  1. I've always loved Gando. He's always wore his heart on his sleeve and given 100%... But his crossing in his first stint was nothing short of abysmal hahaha. He just seems like a great guy who loves the club and will give his all to make sure we are successful and has flourished in his new role up top. I think I'm his number one fan.
  2. My personal opinion that Davo wasn’t particularly great yesterday and deflected the blame whenever something went wrong, but last week he was solid. The Airdrie penalty shout summed up his afternoon. Dragged himself out of position, sauntered back to position with no urgency and was wrong side and gave the referee a decision to make (granted it would have been a soft penalty). Davo does come in for some criticism but he doesn’t help himself sometimes.
  3. Just seen him limping and appeared to be holding his left hamstring
  4. The previous formation away from home clearly doesn't work given our horrific record. Although I was incredibly sceptical and thought it took us 15/20 minutes to settle into the formation, we actually played some decent stuff, although the fact that Peterhead's 2, 3 and 5 were arguably the worst defenders I've ever seen probably helped that situation. Anderson is just a god of a defender and I hope that he can carry this through the whole of the season and keep Bene and Davo in check. What a great signing he can be. No attacker had a yard on him, just an old school defender and play 3 at the back allowed him time and space to spread the ball about. Vaughan returning is also a massive positive, you could see how much his goal meant to him (and what an unbelievable finish it was) and he will be hungry for more. I really hope than Granto isn't brought out the squad with players coming back though. What a great player he is and works tirelessly for the cause. One of my favourite players in a rovers jersey and has been playing brilliantly this season. The only issue I think this formation may bring is it may keep Hendry and Spencer quiet during games as they have large ground to cover and not as much will go through the middle which means we may seem them drop a lot deeper than we'd like to receive the ball if playing through the middle, however our previous formation meant that they were caught high a lot of the time. We've been crying out for this formation for a good while now and I actually feel a lot more positive about getting results away from home and fancy a 2-1/3-1 win here (usually false optimism with the Rovers though).
  5. Wasn't at the game so going by what folk have said on this and the highlights, if we controlled spells of the game, and get beat 4-1 it's slightly worrying. Also the fact that we cannot defend corners, following on from last season is equally worrying. McGlynn is starting to trouble me now with that fact that he hasn't got a recognised rb and has intimated that he is happy with the current squad, why... No idea. Side note, having Anderson on the post for defending corners is absolute madness. Arguably our best header of the ball and we are wasting him on the post.. I'd much rather have him or Bene marking the oppositions most threatening player, not Mendy who hasn't shown any defending prowess at all. Almost as confusing as having the unit Wedderburn back at the half way line when we had an attacking corner..
  6. Surprised if we didn’t at least ask the question if he was available.. would have taken him back in a heartbeat. Striker situation is giving cause for concern.
  7. Don’t think Celtic would let a 16 year old go out on loan to league 1..
  8. And he played in the friendlies too, particularly had a great game against the pars. Yes, considering the torture goalkeeping we've seen since then, he was no worse than them. I don't understand why you are saying that is nonsense considering everyone goes on about our youth system. I cant imagine the fee would have been astronomical if there was even a fee to be paid in the first place. Also, surely there will be some sort of fee involved in loaning keepers for the past couple of seasons? Or does that not count cause it works against your argument? There's no risk and reward from just chucking a young keeper when he showed signs of having good potential. Why would you not want to give him a chance and work with him and see if he progresses? That's ludicrous.
  9. If foreverarover had just stopped after Rory Brian I would have agreed with him. I think it was a travesty we let him go. Played a few games and looked more than capable of doing a job and he was young so could only improve. Fee or no fee, he was the best prospect of a goalkeeper we had for a long time and think it was stupid to let him go. Barry smith did McGuff no favours by playing him in the betfred cup as he was so raw, however you’d have looked at those games and said there’s no way he can get anywhere near the first team so can’t say they were wrong in letting him go. As I said prior, county fans say Munro is a good prospect and did well when given a chance... he can’t be much worse than what we’ve been lumped with over the years.... surely?!?
  10. Is that the young boy that played the Irn-Bru cups for you? A couple of County fans I know rave about him but looked a bit dodgy in the final!
  11. Spoke to couple of Hibs fans from work and said he’s terrible... can’t wait
  12. Out of everyone, I'd say Forfar have made the best signings and I reckon they will be up there. Good team last season and fully expect them to kick on. In terms of signings, I think we've done pretty well. I think it's hard to judge the older players McGlynn has brought in as we haven't really seen them play week in week out, at least not for a good few seasons. I think Anderson is a good squad player to have, wears his heart on his sleeve and will work tirelessly for the cause, but unsure about him starting up tops. McGurn is a quality signing for his personality and the feel good factor alone. Haven't seen him play in years so don't know if he can do a job as a starter week in week out but he can't be as bad as some of the diddies we've had the past few seasons. The other signings will only become apparent once we've seen them play. Airdrie fans saying McDonald is not the best, but as long as he can work hard for 90 mins and not be a total shitebag, he's already better than Crane. I liked the look of Spencer when I seen him and Victoria can cause trouble, as shown against us, so hopefully McGlynn can get the best out of him and help him work hard for the team every week and not just himself. My main concern is that our partnership at centre back may be Bene and Davo. Davo should be seen as a squad player rather than a regular starter. Like most people, I wouldn't mind seeing a partnership of Bene and McKay week in week out, however Bene has yet to recapture the form before his injury against Ayr. A new right back is a must in my view, if not then let Watson play. I also think from what I've seen of him that he is very raw, but he can only improve given a considerable amount of game time. McKay came on leaps and bounds with a good run in the squad and we have struggled for full backs the past couple of seasons. Give him a run, if by January he hasn't made the impact we'd have hoped, sign someone else. Don't understand the panic in some people. We have a good core squad with only a couple of strikers and a right back to come in, potentially a new keeper but that may solve itself if Lyness signs, who I think we've yet to see the best of. If he carries his form from the playoffs to next season he could be the answer to the question. With Vaughan and Dingwall to come back, I'm not worried. My biggest concern last season was our midfield and I don't think our midfield helped the calamitous defending last season whereas I think this has the potential to be the best midfield we've had in donkeys and may take some pressure of the defence. Find a couple of strikers that can score 15-20 goals each we'll not be far off, although I appreciate these players are hard to come by. We have one already in Vaughan and Victoria scored 12 last season with half a season spent at stranraer.. I'd like to think we can provide him better service than them. No panic here, I'm looking forward to seeing who else comes in but we still have a few weeks to make those signings. Calm doon.
  13. He is absolutely not. We played a 5-a-side game against his work and he was manager because of an ongoing injury problem....
  14. That is the worst draw imaginable apart from Dundee.
  15. Insider information tells me Kevin Nesbit to be announced for Dunfermline in the coming days...
  16. And then Raith can take part and maybe actually win something...
  17. Have always thought about this. Easy way to make money, sign some shirts and balls etc. and raffle them off. Fiver a ticket and you'd imagine you'd get 100-200 which is a decent amount to raise. Even if only 20-30 people buy a ticket, you've covered the cost of a couple of shirts and balls anyway. That may be a bit too easy for the board though.
  18. Davo was our best defender the season Ayr won the league by a country mile... Until the playoffs.
  19. What a hero. The genius of picking 3 players that are not too far out to be ridiculous shouts, but just right enough to be eaten up by the rovers fans... Take a bow sir. Heard Marv and Mark Campbell are coming out of retirement to sort our defensive troubles out..
  20. What a good signing for Forfar on Kirkpatrick. He gave us a torrid time last season and looked quality. Would have loved him at the rovers.
