  3. I think it is high time that Fauldhouse, Whitburn, Armadale, Bathgate, Pumpherston etc take in the full implications of this statement below that the West Region SJFA are circulating. Time to come home boys to the EoSFL and leave the self-isolation behind. Under the compromise you can still play in the Junior Cup.

Q1 I'm not proposing anything. The LL is proposing that.
Q2 Wave them goodbye and wish them well for their future.

    Thanks for the response.

I think the clear interpretation must therefore be that the WRJFA will remain effective. This in my view does not bode well for the future.

    What vote?
Clubs were asked if they wanted to stay together. They said yes.
But ask yourself this, if 57 clubs left to join a new WOSL, why would 6 clubs think it would be in their best interests to remain?

Are you proposing to wind up the WRJFA?

What is the position of the SJFA if clubs like Clydebank and Kilwinning decide to ditch their SJFA membership?

  6. Well done the players of Preston Athletic. Hope this provides a spur to players in other clubs.

Preston Athletic FC – Statement from Chairman

The Club have today received notification from the players that they have unanimously agreed they do not wish to accept any wages or expenses that were due to them from mid-March during this period of uncertainty.  This will allow the Club to continue to meet its commitments and remain financially viable during these unprecedented times and going forward into next season.

We are a small Club in terms of available finances and rely wholly on our SFA licensing funding, local business sponsorship and fundraising.

This gesture is immense from the players and everyone at the Club would like to express their thanks and gratitude to them all.

    Donald Reid
    Chairman

Yep, it really is that simple. I don't know why it has been made so complicated by trying to get teams into the pyramid who clearly don't want to.

Always appreciate your comments glensmad but are there any clubs that have actually made a firm declaration or inference that they would not be interested in joining the LL led WoSFL new pyramid league initiative? Or are we still gazing into a misty crystal ball?

500,000 divided by 5,000 = 100 clubs. HoW many clubs are there? And have they any other reserves or is the 500,000 it?

With 133 clubs I suggest the Coronavirus grant would be around £3,000 per club leaving the remainder in reserve.

While on the face of it it seems like a good idea I doubt Tom Johnston has the authority to do that, it would probably require a meeting of the SJFA committee or an EGM to do that.

I would have thought that TJ would be taking whatever steps are necessary to help clubs out during the Coronavirus emergency through the Executive or an EGM.

Personally I would like to see a Coronavirus grant of £3,000 per club if the season now has to be aborted.

Is that figure realistic or not? This is the time in which TJ can put the interests of clubs at the forefront.

  11. Would it be appropriate for the SJFA to release some of their reported £500,000 reserve to cover players wages during the current Coronavirus emergency?

Wonderful opportunity for TJ to show some real leadership at a very difficult time for clubs during a growing emergency . Would also ensure that a large pot is not left when clubs migrate to the WOSFL.

Time for TJ to make a statement on this issue.

  12. A window appears to be opening which would enable a EOSFL hop in early October each season followed by a WOSFL hop in mid-March.

At the moment in 2020/21 season there are likely to be two EOSFL ground hops - one in October and the other in March?  Suggest that it would be magnanimous for the EOSFL to offer the March slot to the newly formed WOSFL.

    Do you agree?
