  1. Just been making a few checks on Syngenta Juniors FC and while they have certainly have had problems I do not think we are seeing the "dying embers" of a failed initiative.

I certainly would not be surpised to see them attempt to move to the EoSFL for 2020/21 in order to facilitate an U20 Development Side pathway for their burgeoning youth set up incorporated within Syngenta Juveniles FC.

What led Little Kerse to give Syngenta Juveniles the red card from pitches?

So Thornton, Kennoway, Rosyth, Kirkcaldy and now Lochgelly have announced their departures. What is the story with Newburgh and Lochore? Surely to follow now?

Each of these departures from the SJFA sends a clear message to those clubs currently in an uncomfortable position sitting on the fence in the West. The underlying position is that progress cannot be halted. There is no advantage in trying to ignore the “seas of change “.

Even TJ - our very own “King Canute” - must see how quickly the tide is coming in!

Nice try Alan! IMO there are so many clubs about to move to the WoSFL it would be a more profitable use of time to list those clubs that will be remaining within the rump WRJFA.

I will start you off with No.1 St Anthony's. Really interested to see what you or anyone else can come up with.

Given all the politics, I can't see anyone get turned down presuming meet the basic criteria. However i don't know the size but I wouldn't have thought the LL/EOS have a very large workforce and rely heavily on partime/volunteers. It's going to be a lot to ask them to help run a WOS as well as their current leagues especially if numbers are high. There will be a lot of people ready to jump on any teething problems which you would think have a greater chance happening the larger the league.

LL/EOS already have a very successful template for running / kick-starting the WoSFL. I would not anticipate any teething problems. The one issue that i would highlight is the desirability of finding a major sponsor for the WoSFL with the aim of "pump-priming" the competition.

East and West remainers will join together.

Do you really think that West Calder United will want to play Ardeer Thistle when they can play the Linlithgow Rose Tribute Act up the road?

Come to think of it West Calder supporters may prefer matches against teams from Fife or East Lothian in a real league.

    Why only those clubs?

Fair point. It will obviously depend upon who are the first winners of the WoSFL (assuming they are Licensed and gain promotion to the LL).

I just quoted Kilwinning Rangers & Clydebank as they appear to be most willing to "nail their colours to the mast".

NB: Bonnyrigg Rose are included in the current hop while playing in the LL. A promoted club from the WoSFL would represent an attractive floodlit Friday night Hop fixture IMO.

"Here’s our annual jaunt North of the border, and boy, do we have some cracking grounds for you this year! As always, this is going to be the Hop not to miss!!

The fixtures we have planned will feature five matches from the East of Scotland League, and one from the Lowland League. We begin on Friday evening with a visit to Broxburn Athletic  as they face Camelon Juniors to start the proceedings at 7.45pm. Our Saturday is spent in the South side of Edinburgh, and we start at Dalkeith Thistle (11.15am) as they host Peebles Rovers, before we enjoy our Lowland League fixture at Bonnyrigg Rose that sees former League side Berwick Rangers provide the opposition at 2pm. From here, it’s onto Easthouses Lily for a 5pm kick off against Haddington Athletic, and finally to Newtongrange Star at 7.45pm in a mouth-watering clash with Linlithgow Rose. In case you hadn’t noticed, it’s Thistle, Rose, Lily and Rose again....Flower of Scotland indeed!! On Sunday, we have another classic ground to enjoy, this time at Bo’ness United as they face Penicuik Athletic at 12.15pm before we head back South.

Six fantastic matches in our favoured format for the weekend, and whilst we hope there’s no issues, we always add the proviso that games are subject to amendment or cancellation."

March 20-22 - Scottish hop (GHUK)

Hop schedule fixtures are as follows:

    Friday March 20
    Broxburn v Camelon 7.45pm

    Saturday March 21
    Dalkeith v Peebles 11.15am
    Bonnyrigg v Berwick 2.00pm (LL)
    Easthouses v Haddington 5.00pm
    Newtongrange v Linlithgow 7.45pm

    Sunday March 22
    Bo'ness v Penicuik 12.15pm

    My questions are:

"Why have the SJFA and in particular the WRJFA been so inept in moving the current 63 WR members and the existing league format across to the Pyramid?"

"The latest and final attempt by the SJFA/WRJFA appears to have been a complete failure and it is questioned whether this leaves the only way forward for Largs and other West Region clubs is to join the LL/EoSFL initiated WoSFL?"

"What happens if we miss the boat and remain in a rump SJFA and WRJFA?"

    "What will be the consequences?"

Explain to us the rational thought process behind these clubs remaining in a league like that?

Easy - it can be defined as clubs that continue to enjoy "sleeping with their sisters" and are not really worried if they are "missing a few fingers".

If that is what they enjoy fine - but the real football world outside that part of West Lothian has moved on and is a lot more healthy and vibrant. One day they will hopefully discover the truth.

  11. I think that it would make quite a sweepstake/challenge to guess overall numbers and the likely club constitution of the WoSFL for the 2020/21 season at this moment in time. The situation is quite dynamic. It is very useful to get an insight and predictions from those that are more "ITK" such as BM and FWF!

  12. Think that it is about time this thread got back on track.

I also follow the NLM Forum.  Yesterday Prorege (normally an excellent source) said:

"Hearing today from an informed source that around 25 clubs will remain in the West Juniors next season."

    Peasie responded:

"Based on what? It can only be purely guesswork considering most clubs will be waiting to see what their local rivals will be doing. Unless your source is someone at the West Region and those 25 clubs have said to him "we're sticking by the Juniors."
FWIW my own rough figures thinking of who could possibly leave I had it up to about only 22 left."

How many do you think will be left in the West Juniors?

The other issue is that if there are 38 clubs moving from the WRJFA to the WoSFL and 10 clubs move from the SoSFL to the WoSFL we will have 48 clubs in the WoSFL That will be three conferences each with 16 clubs.

A very healthy start for the new league indeed!!!

Can any reluctant juniors afford to be left behind?  Will they end up playing some new tribute acts?

Looking at something like this then (assuming a large number of juniors join if not then just Conference A and B)

    2020-21

    Premier - 16

    Conference A - 10+

    Conference B  - 10+

    Conference C - 10+

Shame that we are going for Conferences again for 2020/21. I note the concern that others have made that there may only be one promotion place per conference.  In this respect I suggest that the fourth from last club in the Premier along with the 3 second place clubs in the conferences should play-off for the final place in the 2021/22 Premier.  This will give teams something extra to play for. What do you think?

  14. Irvine Meadow have submitted an Expression of Interest to join the new West of Scotland League [WoSFL] at Tier 6 in the Pyramid.
We believe we will receive further information regarding the West of Scotland League from around 5th March.

We have set a date of Sunday 22nd March at 2.30pm for a Shareholders Meeting as we have to decide by end of March whether to join. Shareholders will have 1 vote per share. Shares are still available for any Meadow supporters to purchase.

We will use our Fans Forum and Social Media to post any further developments to keep our supporters up to date
Votes can be cast by Proxy for those shareholders unable to attend the meeting.

This seems very detailed to be just a "scenario".

    Do you know something ?

Anybody who has followed my occasional posts over the last couple of years will understand that I am very very pro-Pyramid. To clear up any misunderstanding I am not part of some SJFA conspiracy and know nothing of the inner workings of the SJFA and WRJFA (although I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall at some of the recent management meetings). What I have been trying to preach is that compromise is always the best way forward if it can be achieved. In my view the WRJFA have one last chance over the next couple of weeks to adopt an "all-in" approach for the West Region as put forward in my scenario. It is the the last chance saloon. I do not think they will grasp that opportunity for one moment and it will be their loss as the West Region begins disintegrating and a new and more virile organisation is born.

If no attempt is made to save a competitive 63 club pyramid, it will in my view demonstrate what an inept and backward looking organisation the WRJFA has become. At the vey least hold an EGM and explore whether there is a desire to move together as a group. What is there to lose?

If nothing happens we will soon see the dominoes falling next month one by one as we did in the East.

I would not wish to to move Kello Rovers to the SoSFL.
Disappointingly you have previously indicated (many posts ago) that Glasgow University are unlikely to be interested in the WoSFL / going senior. It is therefore unlikey to be a problem that will need to be faced.

    They are interested.

Good news. But would like to see a Twitter Feed or Facebook confirmation.
