  1. Can't disagree with the above. Quiet and flat seems to the default. Zero engagement. It wasnt really any better even when we were winning the league last year. It was all so quiet. Nothing happening all summer. I've said before that they totally failed to capitalise on last year's success.. Any buzz last year was generated by the team on the park and the fans in the stands.
  2. I was alluding to the same thing. I understand it. Spence has been the most consistent so deserves his place. I'm just not convinced I've ever really seen it click. Carrick and thommo had a great partnership last season but we haven't seen too much of it this year. Carrick was injured for a while right enough.
  3. Spence is doing OK. He works hard and makes a nuisance of himself and you fancy him to take a chance when it comes his way. Not sure the Spence and Carrick partnership really works though. Carrick has been a bit off most of the season.
  4. Wasn't much between the sides at forthbank and felt we were slightly lucky to come away with all 3 points. Will Darren Young persist with the 3 at the back or will we return to 442? They battled hard against Falkirk to no reward. This should be more our level. The table is tight apart from the top 2 and bottom 1 and for all the games against teams in the squashed middle, every point really counts. Hope for a narrow win but would be happy with a draw.
  5. Stay away from Darren Young! I want us to keep him as long as possible.
  6. Ooooft. Well that's one way to get people talking about something other than poor results and a crappy ground. He might just have popped his head up far enough to be attracting some more media attention. That's a massively left field appointment.
  7. I didn't make i along last night but my brother did and said it was a good night. I'd have Lee Hamilton back any day, always thought he was a cracking player. Great that Ross got a goal on his big night.
  8. Isn't it nice to be happy with your playing squad and management team........ Coming on here and seeing the level of dissatisfaction a lot of fans have with their club right now definitely makes me feel better about where ours is at. Some slightly odd stats. We have taken points in every game we have scored in. All our wins are 1 0 and both our draws were 2 2. We haven't scored a goal in a game where we've been beaten. We look more than capable of staying in this league
  9. A lot of tough games coming up not least Falkirk st home. Getting a couple more in to enhance the squad has been great. It seems far better balanced now and hopefully results in fewer games with players playing out of position.. The injury situation also seems to be clearing up. It's been a good continuation of last season. The squad still seem a tight bunch who will run through walls for each other, never give up and genuinely seem to love playing together. I'm really happy overall especially when you see how unhappy some other teams' fans are with their managers and squads.
  10. Great result for us and somewhat makes up for the 2 dropped points last week. Interesting to hear the comments. Not unlike how weve felt about various rookie mangers over the years. I like the team spirit and organisation of this side. I feel we are lucky to have a Darren Young. He's recruited well and improved what he inherited. We've seen the benefits for a while now. Having seen the highlights, it seems we definitely deserved it. Concludes a pretty satisfactory first quarter of the season.
  11. Yeah any team can go on a bad run. Would be madness to make a change based on 5 games. There's far too much short termism in football these days.
  12. A signing..... And a midfielder at that. Murray Miller seems to have a decent pedigree so hopefully he omproves the squad.
  13. Big game for us too Been a while now since we won. Not sure if any of the injured players from last week will ve back. That would certainly help. I'd probably be happy with a draw
  14. That one was unreal. Did seem a particularly odd refereeing performance. Lewis Milne will have nightmares about that header. It's a miraculous save bur he should never have been allowed to make it. It was a far from vintage performance. Absolutely gutting way to finish. We failed miserably to take advantage of the extra man. Thought Cove looked alright knocking the ball around but didn't seem to have much purpose until late on. Funniest moment today was the lad covered in red protesting it wasn't him that threw the flare. Priceless..........
  15. Left Back cover at last..... woo hoo Hopefully get another in before the deadline
  16. The last two losses are the ones that concern me. We have to compete with the other part time teams even away from home. The other 3 don't really. We ran Aberdeen close in the cup, the challenge cup game i write off as we had no first teamers playing. The defeat away to Falkirk came really soon after the Aberdeen game which understandably took a lot out of them. with the best of circumstances i still think that would be a tough game. Home league form has remained OK. We are still I believe unbeaten at home in the league since last November when we lost to Annan. I would love that to continue a bit longer.
  17. Well that sounds promising. I'd noticed that Flynn Duffy has yet to make a league appearance for Dyndee Utd. I'd be happy to have him back as left back cover. Fingers crossed we do get a couple in.
  18. Strange one for sure. You can never really tell what's going on behind the scenes as we have come to expect silence around that. Can't see it making much difference in the short term. When I saw a post in this thread, I really hoped it was going to be a loan player or two coming in but nevermind
  19. It's ok if they are. We've got a nice comfy grass park they can have a lie down on.
  20. Back at home at last. It feels like an age since the Hamilton game. Still early in the season but it would be a great game to win. Win and it guarantees a nice little gap in points over the bottom 2. Lose and we are getting sucked into that battle. I'd like to see Clark back in. Even if he had a rough game at Annan,as our only natural left back he's got to be the best option there. Geeks at right back and McLean and Cummins in the centre. I'd be seriously considering dropping Jack Leitch as he's been ineffective at best and a liability at worst. We improved notably in the Hamilton game when he was hooked at half time. Banner and Davidson in the middle. I'd probably go with Moore and Milne in the wide areas with Carrick and Hilson up front. We've been a lot better at home than away so hopefully that continues. Weather isn't looking too terrace friendly at the moment..... We have only scored 5 goals all season but we have points from every game we have scored in. Hopeful prediciton Binos 2 Cove 1
  21. I don't. It's a guess. Most managers spend to their budget and most are always still wanting more. A couple more decent players would make a major difference. I'm all for loyalty but we can't expect to be as lucky with injuries as last season.
  22. I was disappointed the budget couldn't stretch to a couple more players too. I had major worries about central midfield before the season too and they haven't gone away. You are not wrong. Leitch has been pretty awful..when not much is coming off in an attacking sense then he's just a defensive liability. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the bench on Saturday with Banner and Davidson in the middle.
  23. I wish I was still his age and had ever been that good at football. I did once manage to come back from appendicitis to playing footbalm again in a couple of weeks but I was only 12 at the time........
  24. I wasnt at Annan so I didn't see Clark's performance there. It's exposing the thin squad. Last year we could have at least played Duffy there, a natural left back rather than Cummins,a right footed centre back. The attacking play is concerning. We aren't making a huge number of chances and aren't takingmany of the ones we do make.
  25. Finding some goals would be good. Thats somewhere we've definitely struggled this season. Was good to see Pabs back and will definitely help the defence. Weird seeing Clark on the bench when we have no left sided defensive cover.
