  1. you're not understanding my point but no worries as I probably haven't explained it very well. and those who consider Worf to be a Terran - maybe he is. Shine a light in his eye.
  2. thats not the point though - Picard speaks to the bridge and the crew in English and many French people speak perfect English without a hint of an accent.
  3. yes, Iannucci should had insisted that the actors, whose characters were all speaking Russian, deliver their lines in English in stereotypical Russian accents. That would have made it far more realistic for some.......
  4. and that is the best way to go - I struggle to understand why some films insist on characters who are speaking to each other in a local language, delivering their (English) dialogue in an archetypal stereotypical accent commonly associated with that country. Valkyrie was clever in that Cruise kicked off speaking German, the camera panned in close to his mouth and then panned back, with him still talking but now in English. And then everyone spoke English from then onwards in their own accents, regardless of what that accent was (if I remember correctly). Death of Stalin did something similar. At the same time you have something like Black Widow where they are all speaking Russian to each other at various points in English delivered with the stereotypical accent of a Russian speaking English. a confusing process to wrap heads around, my own included, but grinds my gears nonetheless!
  5. what kind of stuff did the Rev post on football? OF or TA type stuff?
  6. just to add on the back of your addition/edit, it is about cutting down on the number of times people use cars and making cities more people friendly and making people the priority. We are still stuck in a 60s mindset where car is king and motorists are VIPs that need to take priority over everything else. There will still be a need an exception for those who need a car to get from A to B due to a disability - that shouldn't be cited as a factor or barrier in seeking to rid city centres of the majority of cars.
  7. a bike or specialist bike is cheaper than a car and cheaper to maintain. Govt grants for mobility also in place. Improving the infrastructure can be expensive but again central grants in place and also with a medium to longer term approach, less cars and more bikes, mean less costly road maintenance required. The approach to making people and green transport a priority for cities, and the benefits that bring, are not primarily around funding though of course it is a consideration - the biggest obstacle is mindset.
  8. loads of specialist bikes. and cycling infrastructures in town are largely compatible with wheelchairs - much more so in many cases than existing pavements.
  9. Less cars and more bikes will make cities and the surrounding environment more pleasant for everyone. Unless you're a taxi driver or a nutter.
  10. presumably because he hadn't on one occasion over-stepped the mark or over-reacted. if your reason d'être for being on this forum was to troll then a warning wouldn't really be of much use.
  11. I think the issue is more about someone trolling rather than being annoying. If you are posting that number of posts in one section (the pattern on P&B is always focusing on the Pol section rather than any football section on a football message board), constantly talking about your own block list, introducing a practice of "retaliatory red dotting" and responding to someone with every second post by saying "please let's be civil", then you are of course looking to illicit a reaction and are trolling. I get that it is subjective as to determining who is trolling and who is merely annoying, and perhaps there should be more transparency around how that distinction is made by the mods; but at the end of the day Steiner was a troll - and an increasingly tedious one at that. Hopefully his next incarnation is less tedious.
  12. Fully agreed with this. Enjoyed it but I don't have the cash to pay for it behind a paywall I find the move to paywalls to be quite odd. The model is completely different to movie streaming services in that regular podcast listeners tend to listen to a varied selection of podcasts across the spectrum that make it impossible to get value for money through a subscription - either through a host that covers a lot of podcasts such as The Athletic (but in the same genre), or in the case of Talk Media, or Athletico Mince, or Wrestle Me to name some I used to dabble in, through Patreon with a monthly subscription fee per podcast. A host that covers a wide area of podcasts such as Stitcher will not include a large number of podcasts that regular downloaders return to. I don't see how anyone would wish to or could justify £20-£30 a month in various podcast subscriptions. The fact more and more are moving that way suggests the business model does indeed work or at least currently works, but I wonder if subscribers are prioritising what they listen to and/or compromising on quality.
  13. I hope he stays for the sole reason that we avoid another Billy Gilmour type thread - first time Paterson overhits a cross he will no doubt be struggling to live up to the "hype". However as a Scotland supporter and in the normal world, a fantastic move if it leads to first team football.
  14. delightful/pleasing - seething - majority (when referencing own views) - anger - failing - creepy beast (Salmond) - facts - King William - Upset - seethe (x 2) - Unfortunately had to read through to check that and probably missed the Rangers reference. But what a way to start my 2022 - BINGO
  15. Wright makes a fair point in principle - those managers and clubs complaining about the tournament can't claim to have been caught off guard by the scheduling either at the time of signing the player or in assessing fixtures and player availability for the season ahead. Am not quite sure there is the racist connotation to it he suggests - there will no doubt be some viewing it from a racist perspective - but more generally I think it is the tournament that currently contributes most to the club v country debate. And clubs in many leagues - but not all - don't give a feck about international football. However Wright has made his point in a typically footballer/football pundit type manner. Similar to Shearer's assessment of a player's ability confined to playing around with the order of "pace, power, precision, he has it all.....", to Robbie "there was contact" Savage, his focus is on "respect". In his and others view in the article, the football world revolves around the quest for respect and not having fragile egos impacted upon by the "lack of respect". It's all about respect. RESPECT.
  16. a seasoned magician couldn't have done any better nor received a bigger reaction. Surely a run in Vegas is the next obvious step?
  17. even if I am just wanting two boiled eggs in the morning, I have bacon under the grill and some pancakes on the go just in case the eggs don't turn out as well as I would have hoped.
  18. and of course that confirms his ability, consistency and the level he can play at. But applying that simple logic would bring this thread to a shuddering halt and would mean some branching out and ruining other threads. So let's gloss over that assessment and crack on over the bias of pundits and Norwich tactics etc for another self contained hundred or so pages.
  19. I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Am I seething/triggered
  20. Ha, I know. You get so tired of it that you can't help but challenge him on regurgitating the same pish - but then that just perpetuates the conversation and the thread which is what he is looking for. And so the merry dance continues - he gets the bites on the back of the stupidity of posters like me who engage.
