Musselburgh Athletic FC 2020-21
Ormi replied to MussyGirl's topic in East of Scotland Football League
@Ginaro is correct - category 3 from Moray & Banff. Refs travelling long distances is actually really common for the Scottish Cup. On the 12th there were Edinburgh refs that were at the likes of Nairn, Banks o’Dee & Newton Stewart. I suppose it removes claims of a home bias. -
The Borders has been confirmed as moving to Tier 1 on Friday. Finally some fans allowed back.

Live on the club Facebook by the looks of it. If you transfer a £5 donation to the club you get put into a draw to win £150. Certainly seems to be a good deal. -

Bit of a misunderstanding by the looks of it. This was a tweet from the SERYFA this evening. https://mobile.twitter.com/SERegionYFA/status/1315698823595950085

Don't know about the WoS, however the EoS is this Monday, with the LL & SoS around the same time. (Can’t remember for definite with them though) -
South Region Challenge Cup 2020/21

Some decent ties in there. The 4 semi-finalists from the 2019-20 competition all have a 1st round bye, so could the semi-finals be played on the 1st round date? -

True. That’ll be why University of Stirling sometimes play on the Sunday as well. -

It could be a Friday night as well as Dalkeith have floodlights -
10th June? I hope not! Agree though - I hope common sense prevails and fans are allowed in.

Very encouraging

But Hull City are not banned. Surely they can find somewhere in the whole of England to train though? What’s the reason to train in Edinburgh?
-
I have to agree. I’m a ref and there’s been a similar message put on the referee extranet. I’ve not being asked to do any games yet, but if I’m asked to do a friendly on say September 19th, I don’t see what issue is - as long as the provisional dates aren’t pushed back.
-
It’s only youth football that’s got the go-ahead so far. There’s been a bit of confusion over it but amateur football, as well as EoS, LL etc, isn’t allowed to start on the 15th.

John Swinney announced today that, if trends continue as they are just now, schools will return full time with no social distancing in August. Do we think football could return then? If social distancing isn’t needed inside, surely it’s not needed, outside, on a football pitch then?

Looking back it looks like Thornton Hibs -

I can’t see it being that practical behind closed doors though. For example, there’s no way you could stop anyone from watching Ormiston as the pitch is part of the public park. And there’s probably a few other First Division clubs in the same situation. -

That was my understanding of it as well. I was surprised to read that the EoS got “told off” by the SFA. I personally saw it as using a bit of common sense - Kinnoul applied after the deadline, so we’re declined, however a space then opened up that they could fill so they were accepted. Maybe I expected too much though - common sense and the SFA don’t tend to go together -
The new entrants were never going to come into the Premier division though. I don’t think that ever was an option.
-
The new entrants were promised tier 7

Because a GK handball out with the penalty box isn’t automatically a sending off. It is only a red card if handling it denies an obvious goal scoring chance. (I haven’t seen the game though - so am only going on your comment)
-
If anything I believe clubs at EoS level will fair better than some further up the SPFL pyramid. For EoS clubs a big chunk of their budget is wages - and we’ve seen many clubs have players decline wages throughout this. However clubs further up the pyramid will also have additional full-time staff to pay whilst receiving no income which is not a problem down at our level.

I’m up for that

I’ve not looked too much into it but Ormiston and Tranent are certainly involved in the scheme. Anyone know of any others?
