The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread
Sortmeout replied to djchapsticks's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
The rumour when Brophy left and (supposedly) picked St Mirren over Aberdeen was that his deal was over £3k per week. -

It does seem to be your favourite division to play in. -

Ayr being top is more embarrassing than Arbroath being top last year. Sad to see the demise of the Championship after the big club left. -
Hibs v St Johnstone 21/10/22

If you’re old enough you’ll remember a Samba theme for Kilmarnock be St Johnstone UEFA cup showdown circa 1999. -
Hopefully Reo Hatate will have his agent tweet about the atmosphere, then the Hearts fans can go home happy. At Tynecastle? I doubt it.

Hibs v St Johnstone 21/10/22
Sortmeout replied to andrewh's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I was in early last week so was fine but I expected the red light on the gate to go green once my code was accepted. It didn’t so I wasn’t sure if I should push the gate…..then had to ask a couple of people behind me to move to get the steward in who then told me I was good to go. I’m sure the person in front of me flashed green but I could be wrong. -

Why would they check something like a direct free kick? I’m not saying you are wrong I’m just saying why would they? -

That can’t be right. So if you score from a direct free kick or a penalty VAR will check it? -

When I was looking at the disciplinary rules that were used against Lafferty things like homophobia etc were mentioned so I would expect the same punishment. ETA - Sorry homophobia not mentioned specifically but here is the outline of the rules. -

We should be absolutely booting him all over the park on Saturday. -

I personally agree with Lafferty getting a ban as that’s the rules and I’ve had a couple of arguments and discussions with both Kilmarnock and non-Kilmarnock fans about this over the last few days. However I see Ewan Murray tweeting today about Calum Slattery getting done for homophobic abuse so where is his 10 game ban? Or was his offence before these new rules were brought in? -
I’m not sure if Dunne has played every game but on the radio after the game on Saturday they were saying you’ve had 6 clean sheets from 11 games so as a whole the defence is clearly working.

St Mirren v Kilmarnock 15/10/2022
Sortmeout replied to Lola montez's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Not the best game but at least we are starting to look competitive now and I felt we were the better team slightly, only really based on chances. Should’ve scored both of our good chances but Carson did make two really good saves with his right foot. St Mirren did have a good chance with a (I think) Main header when he got in behind Stokes towards the end of the first half, I was right in line with it and it didn’t go far past the post. I was in early so didn’t suffer in the queue but St Mirren need to sort out their entry system. Even for me I found it took a couple of attempts to scan my QR code so I’m guessing that was what caused the delay. I’m sure if you go ever week you get used to it and get in with no problems but when over a thousand people all turn up to use it for the first time in a while, and you’ve only got 2 or 3 turnstiles open, it’s not great. A lot of the guys around me who came in after kick off were raging. -
Dundee FC vs Ayr United - 15/10/2022
Sortmeout replied to Ludo*1's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Noticed in The Sun (was in the barbers) that Dundee’s manager has been reduced to trying to unsettle Ayr by claiming they will lose their manager and top player before too long. Can’t believe the state Dundee are in, below Ayr in the league. It’s been over 30 years since we were below Ayr the league table (not even for a week). -
St Mirren v Kilmarnock 15/10/2022
Sortmeout replied to Lola montez's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
We have looked better in our last couple of games but away from home has been poor so far this season. Hopefully we can avoid defeat at the very least but, despite St Mirren having a far better start, we would always expect to win in Paisley and failing to do so here would be a big blow. -

Our record at Parkhead won’t be much better but at Ibrox it should be. Off the top of my head I can remember 4 or 5 wins at Ibrox in the last 30 years. Think it’s 6 times in the last 30 years: 1993, 1998, 2000, 2007, 2012, 2018. We’ve only beaten Celtic in Glasgow twice since 1955 I believe. In the 2012 League Cup final and I think the win at Celtic park was either 6 months before or 6 months after that cup final. -
Manager under pressure then I assume?

Dundee behind Ayr Utd after 10 games. What an embarrassment. It’s Ayr FFS. For the record Kilmarnock haven’t been below Ayr in the league for over 30 years. Not even for a wee week here or there. #levels -
Kilmarnock v Heart of Midlothian
Sortmeout replied to Tony Wonder's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
On the plus side I thought Taylor, Mayo and Stokes all played really well. I’m a fan of this formation we seem to be playing with an attacking fullback and then 3 sitting. I was having a bit of an argument with someone after the St Johnstone game because I was sure it was 3 at the back with 2 WBs in Armstrong and Ben and the other guy was stating it was 4 at the back. Also thought Alston, Armstrong, Lafferty and Jones did well, Armstrong the best of that lot. -

He managed games against us well enough with Aberdeen multiple times. I thought today was a great battle. If you want to blame the manager for squandering the 2 goal lead then you need to praise him for having us 2 up in the first place.
