For all the people saying goalkeeper (including me) I would like to ask who would you rather sign if you could. Either Mbappe (insert alternative top striker) or Ederson (or alternative top goalkeeper) So even though I think goalkeeper may be more important I would have to say I would pick Mbappe over any goalkeeper in the world.

When we were relegated it was mostly down to having a dreadful goalkeeper, especially in the second half of the season when Lafferty was scoring goals up the other end.

A fairly simple question but one that I don’t think has ever really been discussed before - what position on the park is the most important for teams to get right? Is it the goalkeeper? A left back? A striker? I’m not looking for you to tell me what’s the most important to your club this season but just overall. What position do you feel has the biggest impact? This came into my head tonight watching the Hearts game and seeing Gordon in goal vs The Dundee Utd diddy last week, I immediately thought Hearts were lucky by comparison as the goalkeeper for Utd has had a few howlers already. Then I asked myself - is the goalkeeper position the most important on the pitch? As soon as I thought this I immediately said to myself that a striker was more important than a goalkeeper and I’ve been thinking about it ever since, as well as multiple other positions on the park. I appreciate that different tactics etc will require different positions to be more or less important but again I’m just looking for a general view and discussion on it.

Even though I’m not personally a fan of Jack Ross and I think he will fail in the end up (based on fantastic football knowledge*) I do think Utd fans need to relax a little bit and give the team time to settle in. If it still looks really bad after 10 games then fair enough. Hearts finished 13 points clear of Utd last year so it’s not a big shock they’ve lost at Tynecastle. *this knowledge includes thinking the Dundee Utd goalkeeper looked really solid against us on the opening day.

It’s worth mentioning that, with the exception of Aberdeen, the league is already looking like a list of clubs from biggest to smallest with both Saints clubs, Livingston and Ross County at the bottom.

Based on that assessment then shouldn’t Leishman be playing in the top flight?
