  1. Were these conferences based on the current tables or something, or trying to get fair divisions - even though they're starting from scratch. Hopefully travel times/distances came into the conversation at some point ? Guess it's just accepted now and get on with it ?  What's the longest distance anyone ?

  2. Never expected the new set up to be based on geography 100%  Guess if you're having a few long distance games, no one should be surprised. Time for the locals to somehow help the clubs out with costs etc, be it rental van/fans on the players coach, come one inventive !

The bit about the gates not being shared in SCC games is true. It was something that was brought up when the East had all their changes back in 2018. Yet nobody asked to change it in 2019 once their voting rights kicked in. The semi finals are played at whoever gets drawn at home. I'm sure someone better in the know will jump in with the specific workings.

Below is how the SJC is run. It has been said that after covering the referee's fees and the home side covering the guarantee of travel a majority of sides could be at a loss or just break even mode unless they're fortunate to get a big name to draw in crowds. Which is perhaps why the East never changed the pyramid cup rules so far.

EDIT: To add how travel expenses work in the SCC.

Match officials are covered by the home team but the home team isn't out of pocket having to cover the travel guarantee. The away side get money for their travel over 50 miles and I suppose the idea is that within 50 miles its just another game.

Guessing that it's better to be drawn at home, hopefully boosting their income by a big gate, food & drink etc. I wasn't sure of the costs involved re mileage etc, interesting stuff. Hoping the game returns by the end of 2020, be positive eh.

  4. If the Serpentine system is to be used, then that's it - the conference's will be decided, end of argument ? If clubs aren't happy, play well and get promoted - if you were a mid table WOS club before covid19, why complain ? Last point, big changes for the (ex juniors)  ahead, how about the players, are they sticking around/jumping ship ? or waiting to see what's on offer ?

  5. Be interesting if any clubs are unable to compete in 20/21 - would the leagues run with odd numbers or could clubs be quickly shoehorned in to make up the numbers ? So many things could happen, but until things are sorted then it's all guesswork .

  6. Guess a strong pyramid would be Highland, Lowland, Western and South East lges with a definite say 4 feeder league's below. Will always be difficult, like with the Northern LGE in England being out on a limb, and clubs like Torquay  etc just miles from anywhere. Would be good to retain junior lges for clubs who don't possess the ambition, or are just unable to progress for various reasons.

Have either of you actually been to the West of Scotland? If pointless arguing was a sport we'd be world champions.

Yes thanks Sergeant, have been going up to the West region  the past 5 years, managed to see around 100+ games, mainly the juniors and a few spfl as well. Was meant to be up the end of May, but I will return asap.

  8. Ha yeah some hopper types are complete twats !  like the I didn't go to the game cos there's no programme for f** sake !  Must be difficult if clubs can't always get their ground and have to change, ihave no problem with that, having run a. club myself (in Bristol).

  9. Would Livingston have got in, if they had applied on time ? Am sure once this virus has gone/vaccine found, then some clubs will want to drop down or go out of business altogether - so possibly gaps will appear in some leagues. Most importantly I hope people and clubs manage to get through this somehow.

  10. Am not opposed to change and progress, guess give the West clubs a couple of seasons, then if they aren't suited to a senior lge - be it finance, lack of committee help, etc, then it just needs to have a league that they can drop down into.

I think if you go through the vast majority of posts by Talbot fans you will find that most of them are retaliation towards remarks made about our club. This thread saw posters actually claiming that Talbot were lobbying the SFA to set up the current WOSL without any evidence. and rightly so the Talbot fraternity got stuck in to defend our club. One of your fellow supporters remarked that our club is scum in one post while yourself were more diplomatic by just pointing out its part of our support that fall into that catagory. If you go back through your posts you will probably find that a majority of them actually relate to Talbot, so I find it amazing that you feel that you are the victim when Talbot supporters actually bite back. I suggest you refrain from mentioning our club and I think you will find that the Talbot supporters on here will probably give you a wide berth.  Also your one man crusade about not going to Beechwood because you were offended, FFS grow a pair, the last person to pull this card was the idiot RRG are you wanting to be tarred with that brush.

Bankie/Blackie my message was about the league and criteria etc - agreeing that we wait for news when this virus fades, and a vaccine found, didn't mention the Talbot as I've no  gripes against any club.

  12. Not fully up to date with leagues below the West regions etc, but couldn't one of the leagues look to move into a new junior set up ? so that there's a natural pyramid. Down here in Bristol the County League went up into step 7,part of the national set up with clubs knowing the criteria required - so they can build towards.

How thick can folk be it tells you in the statement that they won't make a decision on promotions/relegations until the league is due to start

Quite right, arguing about something that hasn't happened yet. As to the future, let's have a proper pyramid like in England - first step to own an enclosed ground - then to have seating and covered area - then to have floodlights and ONLY then can you aspire to join the bigger leagues. Clubs, have a 2 or 3 year plan and have the finances in place. Simples. Think the SFA, SPFL are building a wall, protecting their own as expected. Imagine spfl 2 being replaced by the top  junior/senior clubs

  14. A new West set up,64 clubs, the top division tier 6, below are tier 7. Clubs would be given 2 years to reach ground criteria. Would the juniors had voted for this prior to the breakaway ? PS money talks it seems, what are/were these juniors getting paid ?

  15. I agree,a 20 club league looks hopeful if a season started in August with midweek games. Am surprised the 20 looks the way ahead - should have been something to aim for, by 21/22 maybe ? A 16 team,30 game season may have been the better starting point.

  16. Correct, don't need an unbalanced division. Hopefully  a 38 game season is possible, remembering the usual postponements etc, find that a bit out of reach to be honest. That would make most cups midweek ? Sure they can find just 1 more club to make up the numbers. All aboard the pyramid, with all leagues and associations working together ! !

  17. Ha I wonder if an spfl club were on the verge of going under - could we have an MK.Dons/Wimbledon situation, some franchise type mob jumping into the spfl bypassing all the nonsense. Stupid idea ? but stranger things happen. How many clubs are likely to jump ship and return to a revamped West League ? if they're demanding their money back 💰

  18. Seeing all the accusations and rumour mills going overboard, is it possible that any of the 67  evacuees will jump ship and go back down to the junior levels ? after late realisation that it's all a fantasy land -  and doesn't do what it says on the tin, so to speak ? 100% behind a strong pyramid, but the criteria for clubs must be set out clearly for all to see.

Andy, its a different environment for youths nowadays than what it was 10 , 20 30 years ago, social media, believe it or not has a big effect on them, work, uni, takes place of priority so something appealing need to be established for the youth in regards to football, a good purpose and without doubt a team in the senior ranks with a development squad is definitely just that as teams will no doubt find out in the future with a development squad that young lads will see very young that there is potential to the senior ranks from their own local team.

A development squad in these teams is something that really depends on the way they wannas go

work on their own talent coming through the ranks or bring in young talent from other areas/teams or both

Good point, suppose I'm still stuck in the dinosaur situation ! Having many different lifestyle choices along with 'modern' ways, make the commitment difficult. Let's hope that just a few can make it through to a decent standard/ make some sort of living out of the game then. Potential and Patience play a part I guess.

  20. Interesting stuff, most leagues operate a period of grace for clubs to meet ground criteria, maybe get jobs done by year 2 or back down you go. Everyone knows the costs of floodlights etc, clubs know if they can afford this. Always get clubs who 'try it on'  whilst there are loads of good decent hardworking clubs/committee's. Going by various lges down south, any crowds of 250-300  are decent for once junior clubs who wish to progress.
