  1. Bit of unhealthy rivalry going around, being an outsider, what lights the fires ? Envy of a clubs wealth etc, clubs pretending to be big, just interested. I've found all juniors to be friendly places, with good support. Being a Bristol Rovers fan I know all about hatred of another club

  2. Seems to me, once the likes of Talbot etc gain their promotions then the rest of the West region clubs look to be on a level playing field with finances not too far apart. You'll always get clubs spending the big bucks (stupidly sometimes) and that creates divides - won't call it hatred.

  3. Thanks just asking, was mainly the home games to be honest. Suppose they may travel until the novelty wears off, some of the spfl 2 places aren't appealing ? ! Always be places out of the way,out on a limb etc, so long as it's not every  other week then I guess the distances look ok.

  4. Think 16 is about right, 30 games plus a few cup - added to the usual postponements. Bigger leagues are ok  if you can bang a few night games in early , otherwise you'll get the traditional squeeze at the end of the season. If lower divisions are different tiers/levels are there tight criteria to achieve promotions ?

No  junior or recently junior clubs have followings in four figures. I don't disagree with your sentiments, but this crowdwanking is bollocks.

Couldn't the likes of Talbot,Pollock,Clydebank etc pull in decent crowds if they got into the spfl ? Just basing it on recent big games that's all  - rather than bollocks.

  6. Suppose the leap from junior to senior could be summed up by one question for clubs and fans 'where do you want to be in 5 years ?'  if youre in the Lowland and thriving, then the pyramid is great, but I guess most clubs will be almost where they are now, just in a different league set up.

  7. Never thought it would be an easy passage, or that there wouldn't be any teething problems etc. Seems the SFA would like to create something where there wouldn't be an easy ride, maybe threatening their cosy existence. All football associations are difficult swines to deal with, very reluctant to change, progress.

  8.  Let's hope so,gogsy eh. Can accept the clubs, fans worrying about falling into the non league set up IF they were powerhouses attracting 3-4,000 or a once giant fallen on hard times. I see clubs scraping by with an att of 500, whilst some of the rampaging juniors await their chance with a 1,000+ following. Suppose a Lowland LGE with 5  or 6 ex spfl clubs doesn't look so scary !

  9. Wonder if we'll get the situation like in England years ago where the bottom side would always get voted back in - making things so difficult for clubs below to enter the 'promised land'  thus almost making the spfl a closed shop,so to speak. Sounds like they are protecting their own, not surprising at all.

  10. Guess spfl clubs will try to get every penny they are due, hope that a future pyramid is pure, clubs will go up and down, and that clubs can accept that leaving the spfl doesn't mean you're in a wilderness from which there's no return. Do fans fear the drop into the Lowland etc thinking they are too good, big for that ?

  11. Will take a look at some clubs' accounts, suppose the big question would be 'are clubs overspending and gambling on spfl income - especially as lower lge clubs wouldn't be able to budget on their gate receipts alone. They are probably trying to attract players from a small pool, maybe the financial problems will change once football resumes.

  12. Common sense prevails,no football until a majority have been tested - selfish to restart anytime soon. How football can test players regularly, whilst the NHS can't test staff is beyond belief. Imagine this starting off all over again ? I thought ok to play juniors with their smaller crowds etc but realise that it would have been risky.

  13. I sometimes wonder what Rangers are trying to achieve in the short term, they weren't going to win the league after their bad run. We know all LGE committee's close ranks when threatened, and they usually have their fingers in the pies. Don't know if the whole spfl needs new blood or whether you could trust the new blood anyway. Wish these folk just make a decision in footballs interest, without being swayed by anyone.

  14. Seems weird how people are against 16/18/20 clubs in a division but quite happy to play someone 4 times. Maybe a big div with 4 up and down, and possibly a play off game to keep interest going. Naturally spfl clubs won't put their existence at risk, guess you just have to find your level somewhere, however painful that may be.

  15. Apologies, being a Bristol Rovers fan I've been used to watching crap for years, just comes naturally. How are Berwick coping in the Lowland ?  Could the LOL end up like the National LGE, full of ex spfl clubs n the future ?

  17. Bit like turkeys voting for Xmas. The bottom club 42 must be an automatic relegation - you're down there for  a reason, usually you're crap ! A working pyramid must see a route up and down, why play the season otherwise ? About time these spfl also rans realised what's at stake,go down and rebuild sensibly within your means.

  18. Be good to see a good number of youth players come through the system, I've seen it down in England over the years but are we going to see clubs burn out by overspending and chasing some sort of golden goose ? Unless a rich sponsor opens his wallet, I hope this doesn't enter the Scottish game - at an important time for the clubs.

  19. Well said Cyclizine, when clubs decide to move upwards, then they choose to travel further for games-  you then attract players who are happy to do so OR are chasing the extra money  that some clubs/leagues offer. Maybe some clubs will think it's a leap too far, into the unknown. Be careful what you are chasing.

  20. Going by what happens down here in Bristol, players go up to County level because there's very little travelling involved- clubs have turned down promotions for this reason. After that you are asking players to travel, maybe difficult fitting around work etc. Imagine Amateur clubs in Scotland would be similar, depending on where the players come from. Does money have a big influence in the junior/seniors game ?

  21. Guess that it's floodlights to be installed in most of the leagues, does going senior mean 'being serious' ? If you're in a fairly serious football league, then you should accept that midweek games under the lamps are a 'norm' and not a rarity. One question, is/was the Junior Cup ever regionalised ?

  22. Ha going back donkeys years, Bristol Rovers played in the Welsh Cup ! different country altogether. Totally agree that ex junior clubs shouldn't play in the SJC, unless I suppose their reserve teams played in a junior status League. Maybe the Junior Cup will go down the 'invite' route, just to get  numbers up !
