  1. No, I wasn't referring to you. Just a general comment I wanted to get off my chest. No worries.
  2. "Oh the cry was dialectical materialism. Control the means of production or you'll die"
  3. It's possible that they are liars Yes, never discount an obvious possibility.
  4. I'm confused as to why a genuine Labour supporter would ever for vote for the Tories. Is staying in a Union governed by people who despise your values more important than seeing your values put into practice? Genuine question.
  5. Yes. Hate to tell you, but 2021 is going to be a tough year. Also, get into Kruegerands and fossil fuel stocks.
  6. Very few of us in work today, just me and a couple of other old guys. We spent the afternoon listening to Patsy Cline and Elvis. It was really nice.
  7. My mother did a bit of research into this before she died. She did really well, and got to about the 1880s where the records ran out. Typical entry: signature X. Occupation miner or farm labourer. There's something really sad about seeing your ancestor couldn't write their own name only 4 generations ago.
  8. As per your comment above, I'm completely ambivalent about her. And Gerry Cinnamon. As such I just dont get the levels of anger they generate. Saying that, I remember my Granny seething when Hughie Green and Gary Glitter were on telly and it turned out she was right. But then she hated everybody on telly apart from Dave Allen, so maybe not a scientific sample.
  9. It takes just one toxic person to turn a workplace to shit. I used to think that employers were just really poor judges of character. Now I tend to think these toxic people are far enough along the psychopath scale that they are able to present themselves plausibly to managers as just driven, ambitious types. The unseen damage they cause to others must be immense.
  10. Just googled her. Apparently they are no longer together. As that great philosopher Lloyd Christmas once said: "so you're saying there's a chance"?
  11. Do these guys have to leave the movement once they've made love to a beautiful woman? Do their mates start calling them Chad and send them to Coventry (or Clydebank in a Scottish context)?
  12. I'll get back to you once I've watched it a few times on iplayer. But I'm probably going to say yes.
  13. Michelle Marsh definitely counts. Also, Helen Skelton and her look as if they could be related.
  14. Amy Macdonald was a regular in Dingwall when her husband played for us. She once got the St Johnstone da brigade seething by having the temerity to sit near the away end once. This definitely counts
  15. It was brilliant. I read the books as well, which were great. Faintly remember a spin-off with Uncle Jimmy trying to organise a military coup. Cock ups on the catering front ensued.
  16. You could be right. The discarded scud books which young lads in the 70s found in the bushes had the opposite impact. "What the **** is that thing?!! I'm never going near one of them when I grow up. Yuk".
  17. Any update on this guy? Did it eventually work out for him? At the risk of sweeping generalisation, young unattached guys are willing to overlook aesthetic considerations if an opportunity to enjoy female companionship presents itself. Or so I've been told anyway. Personally I wouldn't know. Ps Dont tell ma pals
  18. "This project" when a manager accepts a job. You're not building a shed, mate. You've accepted a job to manage a football team.
  19. Which raises the question: have any other P&Bs ever seen a pretty lady celebrity at their local team's ground? You know, Ursala Andress spotted at Cappielow for a League Cup Sections game, late 60s kinda thing?
  20. I doubt she was. She was sitting a couple of rows in front of me at the Accies. Seem to recall her getting a pie at half-time. I was the only person who recognised her, only because my daughters were wee at the time and watched her on telly. I didn't even point her out and say "Look! It's TV's lovely Helen Skelton". Your proverbial sliding doors moment right there.
  21. Gavin Skelton. 16 games. 0 goals. But he brought his sister to watch him play. TV's lovely Helen Skelton.
  22. It"s really funny how many manager's jobs are on the line if they lose to Accies. Like it's the most humiliating thing that can happen to your team. Our managers watch their team regularly pumped by Annan and Stranraer, yet remain bomb-proof.
  23. Nobody's saying that. The fact that a racist headcase got through on a national radio station isn't Keir Starmer's fault. Sure, he could've given a stronger response, and probably wishes he had. Either way, I'm voting SNP so God knows why I'm getting involved
