  1. The people putting the money into Cove will eventually loose interest IMO, they may or may not call in the millions owed to them but one thing I doubt will happen is them continuing to blindly fund the levels of expenditure they currently have. It does make it difficult for teams trying to compete with them in the meantime however when they have that financial advantage.
  2. That would imply we are talking about people who make decisions that are running the business or on the BOD of that business which in this instance we are not.
  3. Most people on here are indeed genuinely passionate fans, I do believe that. Haven’t said anywhere “most people are stirring things up” Although I think some may well be (perhaps unintentionally but it’s the same effect)….. What if it turns out fan ownership isn’t being undermined as you suggest? What if a plan is in place being backed by the club and FSS but can’t be announced until it is finalised? Simply pointing out it’s maybe best not to jump the gun until we’ve heard from the relevant bodies. Incidentally we are actually already a fan owned club, between the patrons and the FSS there is almost a 50% shareholding.
  4. Firstly, before I start this wasn’t a public email and I don’t agree with you lifting quotes from what was a private discussion to post on to a public forum, however now that you have I’ve read the emails back and yes there is a line where somebody talks about social media in the opening email which I hadn’t recalled from memory but in context to the full email chain and discussion had there after it’s literally the only reference, if you think these guys made they’re decisions based on what was written on here by a handful of posters then fine. My opinion is a lot of what was posted was ill informed, inflammatory or inaccurate and it certainly wasn’t helpful to the club in any way, it definitely made little or no difference to the decision making process from the people involved with the PG. Nor does it help the club continually stirring things up for that matter. What was being discussed is potentially a fantastic gesture from a handful of fans which by all accounts has been welcomed by both the club BOD and the FSS, hopefully when finalised we will get a formal announcement the end of next week from all the the relevant parties giving actual factual clarity to everything and we can start talking about football again.
  5. I’ve read the email and at no point does the patron who initiated state that it was anything to do with what was said on here. Don’t put words in people’s mouths, this kind of stuff isn’t helpful.
  6. I’ve no idea the workings of the club BOD or what decisions they have or haven’t taken but I am certain none of the guys within the patrons group decided to donate shares to the FSS because of anything they read on here, the mindset was always to get the FSS to the 25% one way or another and it would always have happend. In fact I doubt a lot of them even read what is said on here by a handful of fans or any other social media platforms for that matter and if they did it certainly wouldn’t be a basis for making an informed decision.
  7. Players taking home 60k a year salaries on part time contracts. If they are prepared to pay that to some of the half dozen part time guys still remaining it makes you wonder how deep the pockets of the owners are for the right full time player now that they’ve made the transition.
  8. Yea, it’s not the first time I’ve heard that. Some of the figures rumoured to be being paid to players even on part time contracts is quite incredible.
  9. Unfortunately I think Cove probably are spending a bit more than we can at the moment and if push came to shove would probably be able to offer a player a better financial package on current levels of spending. I was told even of the 5 part time players still remaining, guys like Reynolds and Vigurs have part time contracts on considerably better money than any of our full time guys earn, considering they both dropped down from premier league teams at the time whilst still being under contract it would make sense. How Cove can eventually make that spending sustainable I’ve no idea , surely whoever is bankrolling them can’t do it indefinitely.
  10. Looking at squad sizes and players brought in over the summer there probably isn’t much between Cove, Hamilton or ourselves budget wise but if I was pushed I’d guess Cove were spending the most, even the part time guys like Reynolds and Vigurs ect will still be picking up salaries akin or better than a lot of full time players looking at the clubs they were signed from. I’d say the sugar daddy type model Cove run with does offer an advantage as well, I doubt there is a rigid fixed budget set for the season, if a player becomes a available Hartley wants the ownership will most likely have the flexibility to cover bringing him in. They know they are going into the red each year but have somebody prepared to write a cheque to cover it , that probably gives them more flexibility to bring players in if the right one becomes available where as in our case when the playing budget it’s spent it’s spent barring an unexpected windfall or players moving on.
  11. Yeats has done really well at right back IMO and to get him into midfield we’d need to drop either Spencer or Henderson who I actually think have the makings of a good partnership going on the last couple games. It’s a good problem to have however and Yeats has looked really good in the spells when moved into midfield also.
  12. So would I, he made a difference when he came on against Annan. That would be the only change I’d make, if McGinn is fit I’d leave him out again also with Spencer and Henderson both performing well last week I don’t think he’s needed in there.
  13. Not intentionally trying to undermine anybody, it was more a general opinion on how I view these online football forums/websites or even just social media in general as they can often be destructive or at least counter productive. Some of the reaction and comment on here is probably a good example of what I was talking about at either end of the scale whether it be somebody being intentionally or even inadvertently inflammatory which only exacerbates / misrepresents a situation and will only ever achieve a negative outcome or somebody genuinely raising concerns and asking questions in a constructive manner which is indeed a positive. Look back over this recent topic and we have definitely seen both! If you’ve taken my post as undermining then my apologies.
  14. Seriously?! My point was about being constructive and this is the best you can come up with?
  15. Agreed but there is a way to go about things. There’s a difference between raising awareness and being intentionally inflammatory which only worsens or misrepresents a situation, social media is a good tool for both!
  16. You’re spot on, I think there’s a difference between calling out or constructively criticising negatives to actively hunting them out to the point you’re almost celebrating them when they occur! Meanwhile conveniently ignoring or never celebrating the positives. There’s not many of that type on here in fairness but it does stick out a mile away.
  17. Glad you’re not jumping the gun! …..Work has been going on in the background and I think you might find the exact opposite turns out to be the case here when the details come out.
  18. This is far too sensible a post for this forum.
  19. If only it were that simple, unfortunately I fear a handful of people will only ever be happy lighting fires rather than putting them out. Hopefully I am wrong but time will tell on that one I guess.
  20. I’m sure they are aware , they are all FSS members or reps as far as I know.
  21. I think the FSS will soon get the required shareholding and hopefully everybody moves on. All the drama isn’t good for the club, it needs to stop.
  22. There may be quicker method than that, a large shareholder or group of shareholders may decide to donate shares to the FSS with the clubs approval and full backing. That could be done in days.
  23. We have still to hear from the club and also the FSS on the particulars of this, I’d rather wait to hear the detail as I genuinely don’t think the the FSS will be blocked from reaching the 25% + 1 target via one mechanism or another they will get there sooner rather than later IMO. However, regardless of how it all pans out longer term I doubt it would stop me from paying my monthly debit anyway as I realise that would only end up harming the club.
