  1. We were particularly terrible in every area of the park during that period, Griffiths despite carrying an injury from the Alloa match which prevented him training properly, being massively unfit and under motivated was by no means our worst player. Far from it in fact. An incentivised contract (if he was prepared to accept such a deal) carries little or no risk financially on the clubs part and if somehow McGlynn can get him motivated everyone knows the guys ability, at only 31 years old there is no reason he’s lost any of that ability. It may or may not work but at least the onus would be on the player to earn his wage and in reality can you suggest any obvious alternatives? Competitive games start in two weeks and we literally have no strikers.
  2. Exactly my thoughts, he’d be by far and away the top striker ability wise outside the premiership. It’s just finding a way to get his head in the right place. If there were any other obvious options I’d say leave well alone but at the moment I really can’t see where we are finding this 20 goal a season striker most teams that win leagues have. I get the fear we’ll end up with another Jamie Wilson type signing or a last minute young untested player on loan similar to Ruth which just won’t cut it if we have league winning ambitions.
  3. I’d take him back on a heavily incentive based contract. The guy is still only 31 years old.
  4. Hopefully if we get a few hundred extra tickets sold early doors it’ll mean more scope budget wise for McGlynn to get some decent players in
  5. I’d agree but it does depend how much budget McGlynn has left, if bringing Sibbs back meant us not having the clout to bring in at least one (we really need two) decent striker I get why we haven’t made a move for him. It’s just down to budget management. We were told we were going with as squad of 24 and presuming 2 or three of those are cheaper loan signings it does not leave much room for manoeuvre unless we shift some of the dross under contract.
  6. Don’t think McGlynn has offered him a deal to be honest. If he has it’s been kept very quiet on all sides, Craig is obviously a local boy and has friends/family that are also Falkirk fans so if there was anything happening we’d have seen a bit more smoke I reckon.
  7. I actually prefer just the plain navy and white strips as well. Simple no nonsense and no daft patters please.
  8. Actually think the best way for anybody wanting to help the club by donating a few quid is this, it’s pretty simple to do online and at least the money goes towards buying the supporters society more shares and influence as opposed to just gifting the club money. I’m sure they accept one of donations as well, you don’t have to take out a subscription or become a member.
  9. However many tickets are sold in the run up I reckon the same amount again will make a decision on the day and go. Still think there will be a reasonable crowd, more than would be at a regular run of the mill friendly anyway.
  10. Hopefully another 5 or 6 players still to come in in then, obviously with the caveat we can get a couple out the door.
  11. Enough for what exactly? Your not making much sense now
  12. You do realise we have actually continued to operate a full time set up for the last 4 years despite relegation and having to pay off multiple management teams ect, posted profits in two out of the 4 previous financial years published and carry no debt? All done on the back of money the fans have generated including the largest single investment the club has had since 1997 via the patrons group.
  13. Are clubs with larger fan bases not allowed to rent they’re pitches or facilities out for hire like? Maybe to the Shire every second week, or at nights to the local community, or maybe even to bands like the Killers ect. There must have been near a dozen summer concerts at the stadium now. Falkirks main issue right now is being stuck in league one because we have appointed a series of poor managers/players. Not only are there near zero away fans down here the prize money is also down circa 400k from what it is in the league above and down a million from what was is in the premier. On top of that attraction of sponsorship ect becomes harder, without our healthy support we’d already be part time! To say that support in numbers makes no difference to a football club is absolute ignorance/stupidity to be honest, clubs with considerably smaller fan bases wouldn’t have been able to sustain full time football for 4 seasons in this division without the help of a sugar daddy. The large and loyal support shelling out money every season is at least one thing the club can be proud off despite the fact it seems to annoy you.
  14. Falkirk already have the infrastructure, fan base and stadium to sustain themselves at a higher level without the need for a sugar daddy, QP obviously don’t, your comparing apples and oranges. I really really hope not but the QP situation has all the hallmarks of another Gretna for me.
  15. Do you not think he makes a valid point tho? We have seen this before with Livingston, Grentna ect
  16. Perhaps you should stop commenting on the ownership structure of the Falkirk stadium. I.E. which sections of the stadium the club and council owns and who charges who for what until you know the facts, it’s clear the information you have (or think you have) is incorrect and you seem to get yourself into a bit of a state about things that aren’t actually happening or indeed factually true.
  17. I remember from a previous AGM them discussing the little mix gig and saying they expected it to raise the club between 200 and 300k. No idea how the fee is agreed, if it’s a lump sum for pitch/stadium hire ect or if it was based on ticket sales.
  18. Where are you getting these figures? The last set of accounts showed a 240k loss which was covered via cash reserves. The current set of accounts still to be announced I think is we’re the circa 900k operating loss will be but again, that has been covered via cash reserves. I wasn’t at the meeting but my reading from it is the club are now drained of the cash reserves we had and are predicting a 450k operating loss this year which without further external investment is obviously a worry, perhaps somebody who was there could fill me in but the plan for that seemed to be solely to grow commercial income with a plan B of using the Killers concert cash ring fenced for the pitch replacement as a back up if targets weren’t met.
  19. They might be starting to feel like they are banging they’re head against a brick wall, the guys have put in a power of time and effort all 100% voluntary and in my opinion have been pretty visible yet the reaction/take up from the fans has been poor, the shambles with the B4L thing has complicated things as well. Comparable size or smaller clubs have run similar fan ownership schemes to the FSS and have double our numbers. I’m starting to think the guys may be flogging a dead horse now and should perhaps move on to fund raising events to augment the share purchases, perhaps splitting the money raised with charities. That’s of course if they still have the motivation and time to do it.
  20. He has been linked to join up with his former manager at Nottingham Forrest
  21. The big take from the fans meetings for me is that if the club is going to succeed it needs a collective effort from everyone, those fans who can afford to need to did deep and buy season tickets, sign up to the FSS or buy merchandise ect. The club need to do they’re bit by expanding the patrons group or seeking further external investment, the commercial income needs to grow and it’s the hierarchy’s responsibility to make that happen. All these things really have to fall in place as we can’t rely on a cup run or player sale. Fans as well as the club BOD both need to take a level of responsibility.
  22. League 1 being the exception, although despite Cove being part time I’d wager they're budget was up there and must have been pretty hefty. Guys like Vigurs, Fyvie, Reynolds, Draper ect will all be on similar money if not more than the likes of Falkirk or Dunfermline are paying full time players.

  24. Surely there must be an easy mechanism where B4L direct debits can simply be transferred over to the supporters society, running the two in tandem never made sense to me and at least with the supporters society we get shares in the club for our money, two seats on the BOD and a democratic one member one vote system on how not only the FSS is run but an influence within the club itself as well via the elected reps.
