  1. You knew as Collum was walking over to Dunne, giving himself some thinking time, there was only one thing on his mind. Red card. The Livi player rolling about on the ground helped sway him I’m sure, see Obileye also. Didn’t play well but can’t really have been expected after the past couple days. Nouble gave Tait a hard time in the second half, bringing Tanser on helped us a lot. It seemed a strange sub at the time but Jones wasn’t really in the game at all. Masterclass by Langfield. Edit: would agree on Dunne he has really made that position his own. Thought he was brilliant.
  2. Jack Ross would be my first choice. I’d take a punt on Bartley/Brown if the board felt they were a good fit. Other 2 I wouldn’t be entertaining.
  3. That would be understandable as a worry but not a reason to protest. Only yesterday you were tipping Allan McManus as your choice. Inexperience didn’t worry you then, what’s changed?
  4. To be fair, winner is not what it should come down to. We need someone who is tactically astute and can spot a player in a competitive market and someone who can then entice them to the club as Goodwin did. You could almost argue that Stubbs was a winner, as it happens he is the opposite, but prior to Saints unfortunately getting firsthand experience of it he could have given off the impression of a winner with his past experience. On another note, we are getting into a bit of a dangerous trend now, fans voiced their concern over Griffiths and rightly so due to his past, it worked. Now people will be latching on to that for anyone they dislike, as is evident in the replies to the Daily Record tweet & for what in this case because he captained one of the Old Firm and is widely hated by some other fans in the league - most really couldn't give a f**k about his connection to another club. The board need to do what they feel is right for the club & if they think Brown is a good option then there is no reason why they shouldn't look into it. Goodwin wasn't exactly well liked across the SPFL and there has hardly been a mention of his conduct as a player since he became manager.
  5. I wouldn't be against giving Scott Brown a shot. I'd prefer Jack Ross but aside from him this is the left-field shout I'd endorse. I would imagine that would mean his playing days over.
  6. You'd like to think so, it's been the worst kept secret this was on the cards. Can't even adopt the Gilmour regime policy of promoting from within as Lee Sharp will likely follow Goodwin, not that we should be doing that anyway. It does need to be resolved quickly and I would hope they do so over the weekend with an appointment due early next week. Unless they fancy taking a manager who is already in position then we can expect a drawn out process as always.
  7. He's done what's right for him, until he raids us in the summer I'm sure he'll be well regarded. After that he'll become the snake. Time to move on quickly. Junior Mendes back as manager IMO. Edit: better shout than Kevin Thomson anyway.
  8. Goodwin has to take the chance while his stock is high. 6 weeks ago that wouldn’t have been the case. He’s steadily built a good squad here and no doubt been in a big factor in majority of those players signing, along with the wads of cash we throw at everyone. No need to panic, it’s not ideal timing but it’s not the end of the world. Unless there is an outstanding left field candidate I’d have Jack Ross back. The squad Goodwin has built is not all too dissimilar from what he had in his time here. Thankfully Goodwin was pretty forward thinking and had a number of key players signed up for another year or so yet. Hopefully this doesn’t end our recent turn of very good Irish players coming to the club.
  9. It’s the go to reason any time a Scottish side get turfed out in the August qualifiers. They must presume it’s the case across the board.
  10. Some result for Rangers so far, played very well first half aside from Goldson being Goldson at the corner earlier on.
  11. Smart move. Their board must remember their desperate pursuit of him last time while he was at Saints with the choice laying with Jack Ross and been spooked into action. If they do while Ross only has one choice they are slightly more likely to tempt him there, only slightly.
  12. I would be devastated if Kevin Thomson is considered for the Saints job if Goodwin leaves, he is miles off a bigger job in Scotland has to prove so much more with Kelty Hearts. I can well imagine his mates in the media will be touting him for the job. Goodwin had achieved so much more with Alloa when he got the job at Saints.
  13. The chap has been at the wind-up throughout. Cormack will still be screaming down the phone with his horrendous accent convincing Goodwin of the move if the papers are to be believed.
  14. He was snidey in his last minute transfer dealings but guess he was only doing what he thought was right for Hibs. Unfortunately that was temporarily to the detriment of Saints twice, missing out on a hastily arranged third time with McGrath. He was rumoured to be interested in the Killie, could probably replace Killie with just about any other team, I don’t think he would be against coming back if the board are still fond of him.
  15. Luckily thanks to Jack Ross we are quite used to that. Alnwick must be first up on his list to replace that diddy up there already. Ideally it will be sorted in the next day or 2 paving the way for Jack Ross’ return billed as unfinished business.
  16. Big decision on whether you’d welcome back Jack Ross as well?
  17. 9:30 this morning backed Gerri Colombe for the Albert Bartlett in a Lucky 15, also had a single at 25/1 some weeks ago, by 10am pulled out. Gordon Elliot had confirmed only yesterday as heading for the Albert Bartlett. Typical.
  18. Aye that wasn’t what I was querying, I was assuming that as standard after the whole Jack Ross debacle a few years back. The point I was questioning was my interpretation of that tweet being the amount would be the same as Goodwin would be due were he to be paid off. If that was the case for Stubbs it would have cost us a fortune but I’m sure it was reported he was due a years worth when he was sacked. In any case, no real worry as Goodwin being paid off would not be of concern anytime.
  19. Goodwin spoke of a release clause in his contract going by the SMiSA tweets from the other night. If there’s any genuine interest then everyone involved will know the figure required. The only worry being it seemed like it was the same amount for us to sack him as it is for another club to poach him. He’d be daft not to consider if the opportunity came about, he’d get far more money in his own pocket and in his playing budget. He had to rebuild our squad when he first came in, no reason why he couldn’t do the same with the hopeless squad Glass has been unable to manage. Hopefully it goes no further than us speculating & they hire Cormack’s latest American soccer coach.
  20. If Sugar had any sense he’d see the process through and announce the winner as Tim again. They have assembled a group of complete idiots, usually there’s a couple who at least come across well in one or two of the tasks. Katherine is perhaps the best of a bad bunch. Nick’s negotiation tactic was bad enough as a suggestion, never did I think they’d take any notice of it. The Yank going was a long time coming. I am longing for the day whoever gets fired gets in the back of the taxi and admits they are a clown deserving of being fired.
  21. Can well imagine watching Gordon for an hour made him forget how to play football.
