I've been sitting thinking long and hard about this and I feel like shit even posting it but here goes:

If not seen as saviours exactly, the Rawlins were certainly welcomed by the general fan base and certainly by most on here. The outlook on them seems to have changed completely by a lot of people and I struggle to really see why. The main bone of contention is obviously the Patron's failed attempt to invest and get what they wanted, which is something that most of us wanted to see. (I pledged myself.)

Having thought about all of the recent shit on here though, here's what I think has been happening:

There have been a few new accounts which have appeared (maybe even multiple accounts from the same people) that seem to simply want to discredit the club, BOD, Holt, the Rawlins and, frankly, everything else to do with the club. I think these are people who are either major Patrons or are close to them and I think they're doing it to piss the BOD and Rawlins off in the hope that they walk away, allowing the fans group to get in. There are also quite a few long standing posters who seem to have changed their stance on the Rawlins and I think that they're simply being sucked in by the newbies.

I really hope that I'm wrong but, if I'm right, then I wouldn't want people who behave in that way to be part of the governance of the club, just as I said that I wouldn't want people who threaten or abuse fans (i.e. the Rawlins as alleged on here) to be part of the club either.

As I said before, I wouldn't want the club to be run entirely by fans as I believe there would be too much infighting, clashes of personalities, too many Billy big baws etc., but I wouldn't want it taken over by one guy, or family either. There needs to be a hybrid IMO with fans and the Rawlins involved but the prospect of that seems to be getting further and further away. As fans, we need to know more detail on why the fan's investment was declined and more about the discussions that were held when the bid was made. I'd like that to come from both sides. I'd also like someone to point me in the direction of the fans group so that I can read for myself what their aims are, amount of capital raised, time-lines etc as I haven't seen any of that I don't think.

I suppose in these days of social media things can be painted a bit blacker than they actually are but I've supported Falkirk for over 50 years and seen a lot of bleak times however, we're at a particularly low ebb at the moment so, if ever there was a time that we need to stand together, this is surely it!?

I don’t know anything about who was involved with the fans’ bid but it seems to me that they have gone in all guns blazing with an approach that had absolutely no chance of success.

The Rawlins have said they want fan involvement but they are just in the door after gaining the support of the vast majority of fans.

It’s not exactly surprising that they don’t want to give up control almost immediately. Particularly when the group concerned has immediately demanded the removal of the chairman, directors and sporting director (which is hardly an indication of a group that wants to work collaboratively and constructively).

I’m also not sure how this proposal was any more of a ‘fans group’ than the previous situation with Ritchie, Alexander etc in charge.

How can it be a ‘fan ownership’ proposal when as far as I can tell there appears to have been absolutely no consultation or engagement with the wider fan base and most of us still haven’t a clue who was even involved in this ‘consortium’?

  2. It now sounds like the new normal/much greater normality/beyond level 0/whatever it’s called this week will not be in place until the middle of August. If we assume 3 weeks of level 0 from July 19th.

That sounds like madness given that it will be just in time for schools going back. A cynic may say it’s an attempt to push the whole thing into the long grass of next year.

I suspect that England's 'removal of most restrictions' as Michael Gove said this morning will be very similar to our level 0.

I doubt that will be the case for things like events and crowds when England is allowing far higher capacity at the moment.

Three weeks from June 28 would take us to the same timetable as England. Who saw that one coming?

Except it won’t be the same timetable as England as i’d assume the intention after the 3 weeks would be to go to level 0 rather than remove all restrictions.

  5. The issue is that level 0 that was planned for the 28th is still nothing like normality. We still have no idea when the promised ‘closer to normality’ will happen in Scotland.

Just pushing level 0 back a month will be a disaster as you’re then looking at opening up ‘fully’ at the start of September when schools go back, unis go back, people head back indoors and we move into cooler weather. So it won’t happen.

That's not the point I was making.  The Rawlins have come in taken control with a small investment some how and some people seem to think there's been a new broom and different direction this season but I just don't see it. We haven't done anything so far that we couldn't have done before they arrived. That's the point I'm making.  When will we see what they are bringing to the table as so far it's just more of the same.

I doubt we would have paid a fee for someone like McCann without the Rawlins’ involvement.

What is the ST refund stance across the SPFL? I know Motherwell are giving one free to last years holders but can’t say I’ve noticed any other club doing this?

I expect the club May/will offer a partial refund to those that want one in the ST bumph out in the post this week. Although that’s just a guess. But if we are legally obliged to (sure I read that earlier in the thread?) then it will be. Again, can’t say I’ve noticed any other teams advertising that though bar maybe Partick Thistle?

I personally can’t see any more than 1000 ST sales this season but if the team are winning & crowds are allowed back, even up to 2,000-2,500, then I’m sure that’s what will be through the gate. Even if with no away fans as rumoured. But will depend on the teams form for me.

I think you would be right with the 1000 figure if fans had been able to attend as normal last year.

But I think people will be keen to get back to the stadium after 18 months, particularly if we can make a few more good signings on par with McCann.

    I’d expect circa 2000 STs.

£50,000 buys Declan McManus.  Shows what kind of diddy team we have become if we cannot stretch to that for a player that would greatly increase our chances of promotion.  24 goals for us in his season with us last time.

I don’t imagine paying £50k would be the issue. I highly doubt McManus will be going to TNS without a very good wage, singing on fee accommodation etc. That’s what we wouldn’t be able to compete with.

I’m sure  Kieran deserves a lot of praise for revenue he has brought in but I found that hot tub and car thing really cringeworthy. The stand is also plastered with adverts everywhere which I get adds money but again makes the stadium look a bit cheap to me.

Yep, far better to have an advert-less stadium, no sponsors and a much lower playing budget than making the place look ‘a bit cheap’.

I’m sure you’d be one of the first to moan if the club was not bringing in commercial income.

Most of Scotland’s unlocking has already been delayed, realistically the central belt in the best case scenario will go to Level 1 at the end of June, and Level 0 towards the end of July. And even at that it’s far from guaranteed. There was never firm plans for a June 21st style unlocking.

I share most people’s frustration about the pace of unlocking in Scotland but it isn’t unfair to say Sturgeon is more than happy to lead when bad news arrives. October, December and May lockdowns/slowdowns have been done weeks before Johnson inevitably does it in England.

The new July date in England won’t meet anybody’s expectations either, for what it’s worth. It’ll still be work from home, social distancing, wear face coverings.

I think end September everyone double jagged has always been their "target". Plays out perfectly for them with even English school holidays over before overseas holidays resume.

There’s absolutely no way any unlocking will take place at the end of September. If it’s not done before then, it won’t be happening.

You’ve got schools just back, unis going back, more indoor mixing happening and seasonality having an effect again. Cases will naturally increase and there’s no way the lovejoys will allow reopening.

Government down south already briefing/leaking that the June 21st easing of restrictions are likely to be delayed by "up to 4 weeks", can't see us not following suit.

The thing is that level 0 is still nowhere near a total easing of restrictions so I’d be surprised and disappointed if we had to wait until late July for that.

What we may actually find is that the ‘much greater normality’ Sturgeon has promised in ‘summer’ now happens at a similar time to England.

Imo if that has not happened by the end of July it won’t happen this year as you’ll soon have schools going back, unis going back, more indoor mixing and seasonality coming back into play.

With Kelly leaving its Sneddon's big chance at left back.

If he cannot tie down the position this season in this league what was the point of signing him.

There’s no way Sneddon will be starting at left back. He couldn’t even make the bench last season.

11 cases of COVID amongst those that went to that nightclub test event in Liverpool, and that was amongst those that haven't been vaccinated .

Public need to get to the stage where they are questioning this, rather than just rolling over

It was 11 cases over 4 test events!

Yet another thing that doom monger Deepti has been wrong about- she was up in arms about it being allowed to go ahead and was adamant it would cause an outbreak in the community (which never happened)

NHS trusts in England being told to start differentiating between those in hospital with COVID and those in hospital because of COVID.

Looks like they have refused too !

I can’t see the NHS being keen on publishing the figure as it will show the number of people who are going into hospital for a knee op or hip replacement and catching covid in the hospital.
