Listen, if he leads us to the title then I’ll be delighted to admit how wrong I was and how clueless I am about football...but that’s a fucking terrible appointment. Reminds me of Davie Hay being given the job. All excitement and intrigue for the new season completely evaporated before June.

I barely watched a minute of Scottish Premiership this season tbh, although if Killie’s performance against Dundee is any indication then it must be fairly shambolic. Possibly it’s just wide-eyed nostalgia and previous massive overspending but I feel there’s been a big dip in quality and entertainment. If it wasn’t for supporting the Pars then I’d probably not watch much Scottish football, if any.

Most games I watched over the season were absolutely dire, whether it be Pars matches or a few on BBC. If other folk really enjoy the standard, then that’s great.

Not sure if I’m being whooshed but I felt I was being quite kind tbh! Pars won 1 away game and still finished in a play-off place, which sums up the quality on show.

The Championship is a fairly poor standard most years and can’t imagine it will be any different next season. Fans being back should bring some excitement for a few months at least.

I don’t understand what a “coaching manager” is? I’d agree he’s clearly better suited to being on the training pitch than the dugout. My overriding memory is him crying about Alloa having no luck. I may be deluded, biased or whatever but I think it’s a really good project for someone to take on and if a jobber like Peter Grant is even close to the level of candidate we are looking at, my excitement for next season is nil. Agree that AJ was ideal for L1 but he definitely had the “Well, we could do worse...” vibes in Championship.

Imagine the poor b*****ds who County considered worse options than Malky Mackay.

Craziest thing about this is that it’s not like he’s some incredible manager that’s just so irresistible you look past the fact he’s a bigoted arsehole. County actively damaging their reputation for him is properly mind-bending stuff.

I know it’s highly unrealistic but I’d still like us to contact Stephen Robinson and try and pitch him the job. Big up the impact of the German investors, funds potentially available if Nisbet is sold on, realistic chance of promotion and a fan base that’s just waiting to be sparked into life. The worst he can say is no.

We need 1 or even 2 new keepers IMO. OFW and Gill have not shown they are good enough to be first choice for a side looking to challenge for promotion. I quite like the look of our back four and forwards. I think Iain Wilson has promise as holding midfielder and Dow and Thomas have both been influential at times. Turner will probably leave (although will Crawford leaving change things?) so we could really use with a more attacking midfielder being brought in. After that, it’s mostly ensuring we have enough depth to cover for injuries, suspensions...or COVID.

That’s the thing; Crawford and AJ were both “could be worse” managers. I think most supporters are looking for someone that can lead us into a title challenge.

Still a better option than Malky Mackay imo.
