I got told opposite by someone working for the club. He said that the cost in putting down the pitch (grants not covering all of it) should mean we have a slightly larger budget. Dunno how true that is though.

No way will we have a bigger budget we are nearing a £300,000 loss this season the pitch cost around £90,000.

You can't have full time football on crowds under 1000.

Many fans see it as a backward step but we must get back to part time football the level of full time players we can attract has made it the worse season for many years.

Only thing but highly unlikely is if the new board really invest in the playing squad then we have a chance of doing something next season all about money look at Raith Rovers similar size club but now have investment they are  night and day from a few years back .

Well, he's definitely going to be in situ until the new board has been formed.  It's starting to become a major concern that it would seem that only one suitable director has been identified or put themselves forward in the two months since the current mob, who clearly have no intention of dealing with the Bartley problem, announced that they would stepping down.  This makes it all the more essential that Hewitson & Co ramp up their efforts to get a new board is in place asap, a new board who recognise that binning Bartley before the summer transfer window opens in order to prevent him from overseeing another summer recruitment shambles is an immediate priority.

I would like to think Hewitson and Co already have board members lined up to take over .

The sooner they announce it the better I for one will not renew my season ticket untill a new board is in place with a new manager .

It has clearly not worked with Marvin as manager he can't be allowed to sign a new squad for next season.

On that why must we stay full time why not try a hybrid system.

We have to change something as us bring full time has given us no advantage from any part time team.

It used to be a part time player was not as fit but nowadays they do as much in the gym etc as any full time player .

As I said in another thread, "must win" is overused. I wouldn't say this is a must win game. I'd be happy with a point and would feel we're almost over the line if we manage to take a point. If we lose it's not great but we'll still have time to recover given Stirling and Annan play each other. In all honesty I'm fully expecting all 3 sides to be on 37 points come Saturday night. Anything better than that for us will be a massive bonus.

Every game is a must win at this time of the season .

We get a result at Stirling then we are safe.

If me I would go tor it take the game to Stirling .

It will be a physical game hope none of our players disappear when the going gets tough..

Surely Marv will start Gibson and get Connelly back in the team..

, The game at Stirling is huge and may swing the momentum for one of them , I genuinely think Annan have enough about them to pull it off and stay safe so one of SA or QoS for me at this stage

That is my worry about the Stirling game they play  a physical game we have players who disappear when the going gets tough .

Stirling will be 100 % up for the game some of our players will not.

I really can see all teams level next Saturday night still think Queens don't have the desire or bottle to keep away from 9th .

I’m absolutely no fan of Bartley but you’re just guessing as to what any issue was.

I am guessing but as I have said if a serious issue then just saying sorry would not be enough to sort it.

Main thing is he is back with the squad .

On the Stirling game it will be a physical game something that some of our players don't like .

They will be 100 % up for the game  can Bartley get us ready for the fight I don't think so.

  6. McGuffie out for the season .

McLellend had a  back spasm hopefully he will be back next week .Wonder what Connelly done to upset King Bartley to be left out.

A discipline issue wonder if he answered back on Bartley game plan main thing is Connelly has sorted it available for next week .

What manager would take the rest of leaving out one of your best players for such a crucial game fair enough if it was a serious issue but it can't be with Connelly back in training on Monday .

  7. Crucial game have we the desire and bottle to win the game .

We looked nervous against Edinburgh players are low on confidence we struggled to a win. Have we players who fancy a battle I don't think so some of our players disappear when the going gets tough plus Marv game plan set up will be not to lose which has never worked

We are struggling to score goals as well I can see all teams on the same points next Saturday night .

Yes, it's a spectacularly unappetising fixture, but it really matters.

If we win (and despite everything, I still think we will) then it goes a long way towards keeping us up.

If we drop points at all though, I think it means we're favourites for 9th spot.

I can still hardly believe that this is where we are.  What a pathetic season.

Looked like we could have played all day and not score then Gibson comes on 2 perfect crosses 2 goals surely done enough to start next week .

Still a long way from safety crucial game next week at Stirling .

Have we got the fight and desire to match Stirling next week I really don't think so

Win and we are safe but I can see all teams on the same points

Edinburgh will not get a result against either Annan.or Stirling

We really struggle to score goals

Annan will always score goals with Gibson supplying Goss we have half that option but don't start with him.

  9. 6 minutes ago, Distant Doonhamer said:

    Very important win.
My natural pessimism suggests we’ll lose at Stirling next week while Annan beat Edinburgh to leave all 3 teams on the same points with 2 games to go.

We looked like we could have played all day and not score on comes Gibson 2 assists 2 goals  surely done enough for a start next week .

First time posting on here, as a long time Queens supporter and reader of this message board the current state of the club has finally prompted me into action!

This is easily the worst Queens team I've had the misfortune to watch in many years going to Palmerston. Yes we've had poor teams in the past (often very poor) but generally there has always been at least a glimmer of hope,  a bit of fight or passion in the team that as a supporter you felt might get us back into games, even if more often than not it didn't actually end up getting us a result. However, that's been totally absent this season and I now find myself going to games with absolutely no hope or expectation that this team will do anything other than collapse to another abject, pathetic, toothless defeat.

Gibson, Brydon, Todd, Reilly, Connelly, Cochrane, McKay, Walker - these are all players that can and should be capable of doing a job at this level. Gibson and Walker are arguably our 2 most creative attacking players out wide and should cause problems for any team in this division, yet Bartley consistently leaves them on the bench or plays them far too deep to make any difference. As a local boy, Gibson is exactly the kind of talent we should be nurturing, if, as reported, he does leave in the summer then I will lay the blame solely at Bartley's door. The reality of Scottish League 1 football is that it ain't always pretty, strength, pace, aggression and direct attacking football are what gets results at this level. Trying to play it out from the back and continual sideways passing like Man City or Real Madrid won't work at this level, the players just don't have the skill to be able to pull it off. Teams that try to play that way at this level will very quickly get found out, as we've seen all too often this season.

Like many, I was genuinely excited when Bartley came in and was desperate for him to be a success, but he's clearly way out of his depth and his naive tactics, stubbornness and arrogant management style have sucked the life out of the players, the supporters and the club. He makes absolutely no attempt to create a connection or build a rapport with the fans, witness how he always immediately disappears straight down the tunnel at the final whistle with absolutely no acknowledgement of the supporters that continue to turn up week-in week-out despite the abject performances being served up and the lack of anything approaching even mild entertainment. I can't work out if this is due to sheer embarrassment at the quality of the performances or just down right pig-headedness. I can only assume the latter as his post match interviews are masterclass in gaslighting and a complete insult to those of us who pay good money to attend the games. If he wants to continue a career in football management after this disaster then he's got a hell of a lot to learn with regards to managing things off the field as well as tactics on the field. I get that as a young manager he perhaps wants to position himself as a no-nonsense, hard taskmaster, but his complete lack of humility or self-reflection completely let him down. Any self respecting Board would have sacked him after the home defeat to Kelty in November, the fact he is still here nearly 6 months on is a damning indictment of those running the club and an utter dereliction of duty.

Bartley and the Board are extremely lucky that Queens supporters are so passive. Supporters of any other full-time club in our current position would likely be subjecting the manager and the Board to a barrage of banners and chants during matches ('Bartley Out', 'Sack the Board'), fan protests outside the ground and potentially even boycotts (although perhaps you could argue that is happening silently anyway through falling attendances). With the exception of a few seconds of booing at full time and a few moans and groans on social media, Queens supporters are an apathetic bunch. Perhaps we should share some of the blame for not being more active or forceful in making our voices heard and trying to force change (and I include myself in this)?

Like many, I just want this season to be over now to put me out of my misery. Hopefully we're still in League 1 at that point, if we are it will only be because results elsewhere will have helped us, I'm under no illusions - this team under this manager couldn't fight it's way out of a wet paper bag. From there, a complete re-build is a MUST this summer, a new Board, a new Manager and a complete overhaul of the playing squad. I'll certainly be holding off buying a season ticket until at the very least Bartley has gone.

But despite everything, I still hold out hope that somehow and at some point better is to come - it's all we've got, right?

Great Post hopefully the first of many.

Every word you say I agree with I certainly will not renew my season ticket if Bartley is still in charge.

Never have I been so down as a Queens fan this has been the worse season I can remember

Am sure I suggested this before, but if money is the sole cause for not sacking him now, could we organise a GoFundMe to sack him now? I'd happily donate.

I would happily donate as well maybe that would show Bartley and the board how pissed off we all are .

On fans this does the players no good shouting abuse at them okay certain players are not good enough but surely try and support them.

Away from this does anybody have the half time draw number if I win I will donate it to the Bartley sack fund !!!

Unbelievable score a goal.. momentum on our side.. then bang let's put on 3 subs and change the complete lformstion of the side.🤷

    He has to GO now...

Was hoping Sandra would ask him straight out if he got that wrong but no mention of it the question might upset the arrogant smart arse .

What manager does that maybe one player off but 3 and completely.change the set up it is unforgivable .

The thing I can't get is in his smart arse mind he thinks he is doing a good job nothing is his fault .

We've got a bigger comedian in our dugout. Unfortunately his style of comedy is no longer amusing the fans.

This game is already giving me nightmares other fans have said Edinburgh will get a result against somebody this will be it .

I can hear Bartley already saying it was that players fault or they did not follow the game plan .

He is a arrogant smart arse of a manager who is never wrong even when we do head for the playoffs it will still not be his fault

  14. 39 minutes ago, Monkey Tennis said:

Yip, right down to the content of his latest interview.

Again we get the elongated focus on a goal we lose, as if each incident is entirely isolated.

Again, we get the blaming of individuals as he names Reilly for missing a chance.

Again we get the abdication of responsibility, as he distances himself from the debacle, saying that it's "not tactical".

He signs off by saying that it we win our last 4 games "that's enough".  Even if we leave aside how unlikely such a scenario is, he's wrong to think that finishing outside of the play-off spots at both ends of the table is enough.  This so far short of anything that's remotely acceptable for the club.  I genuinely think he doesn't know that.

I really wish Sandra would stop being so nice to him asking him easy questions the interviews are really not worth listening too.

Why not ask him why the hell did he put 3 subs on when we had just scored surely better to leave it to let things settle down after the goal then maybe put subs on .

He is a arrogant smart arse of a manager who thinks he is always right.

I could take it more if he came on and said I made a mistake with the subs or got the game plan wrong but he will never do that .

I really think in his smart arse head he is doing a good job .

Every home game it gets worse already have nightmares of our next disaster against Edinburgh .

Two things for me today  and I know its ifs but if Connelly goal had stood it would have changed the momentum for the second half - was he off side I couldn't really tell and no one has commented on here about it.

Secondary we shot from outside the box and got a deflected goal, game changer, game on, heads up. What happens we make 3 changes and change system at the back. Horrendous defending allowed kelty player to waltz through our defence from the left wing, it just kept opening up in front of him but a great save from Stone. It would have been a great goal from kelty viewpoint. The resultant corner , Stone seemed to have it but didn't keep it then it should have been cleared. I'm thinking players did not know what they were doing , nothing new there, but changes didn't help and he should have held off 5-10mmins after scoring

Connelly should never have been offside  it was lazy from him .

Only Bartley would put 3 subs on after we score and go 3 at the back a decent manager would have waited .

The goal summed up our season very poor from Stone he has to catch that pathetic attempt crosses are his weakness but even after that Cochrane should block it but very weak typical from him.

None of our players have the heart or desire to win 50-50 balls that is why are struggling so much it is like men v boys as well

  16. I am sick of watching Queens they really do everything they can to push you away .

We are a very  poor team with a clueless manager heading for the wrong playoffs which we will not win .

Our home record for a full time team in League 1 is disgraceful 10 defeats is criminal

The board are to blame for  not getting rid of Bartley months ago

Bartley must be away in the summer take the financial hit  in a massive clear out then get McCall  in to try and sign a decent part time squad to get out of League 2 make no mistake that is where Bartley is taking us .

It's been on repeat for most of the season on every internet page going the line "talked himself into a job" and quite frankly it's a load of nonsense.

He's a rookie manager assistanted by a complete no hope given a budget of £2.99 working with a school camp.

It was always going to be a gamble from the start.

Where the major problem has been is this comple basket case of a board made a major f*** up by giving him a 2 year deal so when it inevitably did turn sour we were financially stuck with him.

He was giving a decent full time budget okay not on the level of Falkirk /Hamilton but more than enough to get us into the playoffs looks like he will do that !

He decided to go with a young squad of  29 odd  players rather than get some experience and quality into it.

Don't think Bartley has a clue what a decent player is look at Mumbongo no wonder Hamilton  don't want him.

He should have been sacked months ago take the financial hit  but all the board are leaving so they don't care let the new board  sort out the mess we are in .

  18. What a waste of time same rubbish every week .

1st half rather than get it on the deck we played high balls into the wind almost beating ourselves .

Good goal from Kelty but Logan far to far away to block the shot .

Lucky to get in just 1 nil down .

2nd half with the wind we still struggled to create anything Kelty dangerous on the break .

Then Todd scores hoping to push on and win the game but Bartley decides  to make 3 subs why because he is a crap manager .

Then Kelty get a 2nd criminal defendering Stone makes a good save but the corner he drops the ball Then Cochrane makes a pathetic attempt to black the shot goal.

Still 20 mins left but we never really created anything we have nothing very poor again.

Kilty needn't panic what with our home form and as I type marvellous Marv will be analysing and working on our tactics, shape and how to shoehorn his favourites in!

I'm just wondering if we'll play 5-4-1 or 4-5-1 in this must not lose game.

Is 5-4-1 or 4-5-1 a diamond formation like Marv said we played at Hamilton.

I still think every game at this time of the season is a must win especially your home games.

We have only beat Annan and Edinburgh at home no wonder our crowds have disappeared to under 1000 .

  20. Already Marv is thinking of a game plan in our must win game against Kelty that is the problem ..

We play 4-4-2  against Alloa and win the game yet we change to a diamond formation against Hamilton .

That is problem Marv overthinks his game plan is too clever for his own good

Just stick to getting your best 11 players on the park 4-4-2 go and try and win the game forget about fancy diamonds or whatever set up Marv comes up with next .

  21. A must win for Queens something that we have struggled to do.

We need to find goals from somewhere not convinced Mumbongo is the answer .

Good to see Brydon back but losing McLelland is bad news .

Marv already thinking of a game plan that has me worried already.

I'm surprised that some of our supporters think this. Listen, the risk is there, of course it is, however I don't think there's enough evidence to suggest we are going to crumble and that Annan are going to go on some kind of title winning form over the next few games. We'll drop points between now and the end of the season, but so will Annan and I honestly think we'll be ok but we can't be complacent.

Darren Young should already be planning for next season, and I'd be surprised if he was wasn't doing that with a budget for this league.

I really wish I was as confident as you .

Queens to me have the weakest squad does not matter that we are full time .

Right now you need experience  bottle desire and a will to win Queens have none of the those  that is why we are in this mess.

We have far to many nice young players who when the going gets tough disappear .We really only have one defender who can win a  50-50  he is out with a bad injury.
