  1. Capacity is 1,320. A few seats available for home fans in the 'stand', all away seats are sold. No indication of home many standing tickets remain for away fans, but ECFC have said that tickets are selling 'fast' (well they would say that wouldn't they?)
  2. Pretty non existent as both sets of fans use the same entrance and the same burger van. DAFC will get a hundred or so seats in the 'stand' but again, no separate entrance. Those of you that had the misfortune to pay the Stadio del Meadowbank a visit earlier in the season will be mildly pleased to hear (1) Admission is now £12 instead of £18 (2) There is a new standing area in the "D" section of the running track behind the goal making its debut on Saturday. Which means you can leave your binoculars at home. More details here https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/fc-edinburgh-to-trial-new-standing-area-for-visiting-fans-at-meadowbank-next-weekend-3970834 I'll predict a 5 goal thriller. Enjoy the game.
  3. Not much chat on this thread of late. An outstanding recovery away at Airdrieonians today after a very poor opening 20 minutes that saw us 2 down. Jack Brydon looked more impressive at CB than he does at RB and took his goal well. Excellent game management in the 2nd half with a few tactical bookings taken. Some decent GIRFUY to the home fans from Danny and Innes in particular after the second half goals. Minus 1 mark for the players giving nothing more than a cursory clap from the middle of the park to the away fans. Win against Dunfermline next Saturday and City are top.
  4. A really balanced view of the game . TBH you blew us away first 20 minutes and it felt like daylight robbery to go in at half time 2-2. A really entertaining game and a good day out in Airdrie, nice to go to a proper stadium and also get a warm welcome from the home fans.
  5. I have to say that your boys were pretty poor today. Your number 9 did himself no favours, effing and jeffing at his own centre back, booting a ball out of the ground when not getting the throw in his way, and then getting red carded for a potential leg breaker on Callum Crane in injury time.
  6. I looked on the ticket app about 10 days ago to see how many "FC" fans had purchased tickets in Block A..... and the answer was four. The rebrand of the club rebrand to plain old "Edinburgh" seems to have gone quiet as well. Funny that.
  7. Yes, just seen the highlights and the first one is a clear foul for a high boot by Robbo. I had to watch the second goal a few times to work out that there was no deflection...keeper all over the place.
  8. Good to get back to winning ways after being dumped out of the cup last week. Not many people would have had City in the top 4 with nearly half the season gone.
  9. Hibs have announced a friendly against 'FC Edinburgh' on Thursday 8th December at Easter Road. https://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/article/hibs-to-host-fc-edinburgh-in-december-friendly?fbclid=IwAR04optCjKQlZs9U9N0KjZ7426r2nsm-F9U-xvAEdsYSi9dMnrSsnNtjvSg No indication of when the FC will be dropped from the name as announced by the owner last week...
  10. Form is temporary, but a shite stadium is permanent.
  11. The owner said that the club's target this season was to avoid relegation. I'd say another 5 wins out of the remaining 24 games will be enough. Given the pelters that other League 1 fans are giving us, gawd help us if we actually get promoted to the Championship....
  12. I can understand your view, supporting a club that has played in the Premier League, won cups, played it Europe, but now find yourself having to mix with the part timers in League 1. And not running away with the league, it would appear. By comparison, ECFC are a diddy wee team that were playing on public parks while you were in Cup Finals at Hampden. Nobody is forcing you to come to Meadowbank. Keep your £12 in your pocket. Be interested to hear which are the half dozen grounds in Edinburgh that are free on a Saturday whenever we need it? Ainslie Park is used by Spartans and Hutchinson Vale on alternate weeks and I doubt Hibs or Hearts would let City use theirs. Take out the Private School rugby grounds and you are left with.... ?
  13. Yep, the bridges have been well and truly burned. I attended either the Dunfermline or Falkirk home game at Meadowbank (I can't remember which one, which tells you something) and not returned after that. The team is performing remarkably on the pitch and I dare say that Maybury may be on a few wanted lists when the Championship Clubs start to fire managers. I've only followed City for 3 seasons or so, but won't be back apart from the occasional game with my son when he's home from Uni, and probably away games as well. Fair play that they have opened a club shop but I am guessing that the old ECFC merchandise (AKA the bobble hats) won't be featuring. I suspect that the club may have picked up some casual fans to replace the likes of me and you that have stopped going so gates will average out at the 350 - 450 range. But seeing as their latest attempt at marketing is to entice students into Meadowbank at the bargain concession price of £12.... well I just don't see how they are going to grow the core support.
  14. There lies the problem. The owner and Chairman had a hunch that the social club might launch a legal challenge regarding the name but have provided no evidence to back up their hunch. Neither the owner, chairman or board has made any written statement for the reason for the name change. Chairman Jim gave an interview to the Evening News and there was a cack handed / stage managed Facebook Live event shortly after which attempted to explain what had gone on with the social club. I don't speak for any of the City fans that like me have stopped going to games.. But if the club had the balls to put out something in writing in the summer then I at least may be prepared to give the current regime a chance. Maybury has trotted out the standard line there. The total irony is that the board have backed the manager, strengthened the squad and now there is a bit of a chance of promotion to the Championship via the play offs.
  15. Yes, I'd love to know how the finances are working at ECFC. You are pretty close with your £10k per month estimate for gate income I'd say. Which is nowhere close to funding a 20 man squad plus staff which must cost double that at least. Others have commented here that once the owner gets inevitably fed up about the low fanbase and ceases pumping money in, the club will plummet. But for now, let's see if we can give your lads a decent game on Saturday.
  16. Yes, a lot of Edinburgh City fans have stopped going to games following the shambles of the name change, me included. Just 305 turned up last week v Kelty, but good on those who still go along. Nice to watch the highlights package on YouTube and follow the live scores on the BBC. I'd like to take in an away game or two to support the players but won't be greasing the palms of Tom Tracy anytime soon.
  17. Good on you for going along tonight. I was interested to see a Chairman's statement pop up on my Facebook feed in the last hour. While he rightly commends the team, Chairman Jim says "Off the field, admittedly it has been hard few months. The supporter experience at Meadowbank has been our biggest issue". No mention of the change of name, tacky badge. and scores of long standing fans walking away. The underlying message to me is that the Club accept that old supporters won't return, and are past caring.
  18. No posts on this thread for 2 weeks, but I did notice that City were actually playing tonight while I was scrolling down the Nations Leagues scores. Another 4 goals shipped tonight against QOTS to go with the 4 on Saturday. Maybe the team are as ambivalent as the followers of the club at the moment....
  19. It's one weekend with no football. Everyone take a breath. Go for a walk. Bake some bread. Watch a film. Speak to your family. In the grand scheme of things, this really doesn't matter.
  20. Different world indeed! Imagine explaining to someone in 1952 what Twitter was....
  21. Have to say I disagree. Whether you love or hate the royal family, this is a seismic event. Edinburgh is already full of police, security and road closures. We haven't had a monarch die for 70 years so I am not sure what the protocol for cancelling a round of fixtures for the fitba was in 1952. It's one game in a season of 38. Just like the BBC and the newspapers have had their obituaries written for decades, I'd be pretty sure that the SPFL are just rubber stamping something that was agreed years ago with the government.
  22. They are in the same place as the club's written statement on the logic and reasons behind the name change and new club badge. i.e. They don't exist.
  23. Good to see the goals being shared around amongst the team this season. Wee John Robbo is proving a class apart. It will be interesting to see whether he can keep the consistency and the goalscoring going into the autumn.
  24. Ooooft. Cutting. But probably not far off the truth....
