  1. Last week's invasion was on our own pitch and that was fine given that we had effectively won the league and promotion. I'm not for pitch invasions on opposition's turf/plastic. Its not respectful and I wouldn't want some bunch of opposition c**** doing that at Tannadice. Apologies for that Airdrie. The only mitigation I can offer is that our fans have had a shite decade and reasons to be cheerful/celebrate have been few and far between. So maybe just a big relief and an opportunity to go delirious played a part. Well played Airdrie last night. I hope you join us in promotion to the PL. Top marks to Jack Walton in the Utd goal too. I hope he comes back to Utd on a contract next season.
  2. Aye, pretty poor fare from the commentary team. One of them even managed to mention some random Rangers comment just before HT. It wasn't M Stewart. Anyway, the game is much as expected. Airdrie have had a couple of chances. United, just one, where Fotheringham should've done better. United supporters keeping things alive atm. Let's hope for a more exciting 2nd half on the pitch.
  3. Congratulations to United! I'm looking forward to the return of Dundee derbies in the top league next season. Credit and thanks to the players and to Jim Goodwin. Big thanx to the supporters too - quite often let down, but they have followed the team in good numbers home and away. In fact, I give my vote for Player of the Season to the United support. Tremendous effort!
  4. I get what you are saying and agree especially in terms of the stability of the managers position. The squad will need an overhaul for the premiership. No mistake about that. But given that Goodwin knows the squad better than anyone else out there, I'm inclined to stick with him and see if he can build us a squad to compete in the prem.
  5. Yeah, when Morton went on that winning run and were the form team in the division for weeks. That was very impressive.
  6. I know, it's almost as if supporters are an inconvenience to clubs at times. I long for the walk up and pay at the gate days. But they are long gone. Is this because of over-regulation? Or just plain penny pinching by clubs that don't want the hassle of dealing with cash?
  7. I agree, it is ridiculous, this match could have attracted close to 10,000 spectators if United had opened up the rest of the stadium. Christ knows what's going on at United these days. But it has been a harsh 18 months for a good loyal support that deserve so much more. I doubt the allocation of tickets is United trying to wind up RR & their supporters. What purpose would hat serve? Other than to maybe gee-up the appetite of Raith team a bit more. I think it is probably just another bad decision in a long succession of bad decisions that have plagued our club for the last decade.
  8. No idea what version of United will turn up tonight, so win, draw or loss; the result will not be a surprise. Hopefully we can get a win. But we are still a club in remediation following last season's self-inflicted monumental disaster. Anything can happen IMO.
  9. Raith have owned the Pars so far this season. However, have a feeling Dunfermline will come away from this game with a point in a hard fought game. Prediction: 2-2
  10. Disappointed we are without Declan G & Ross D. Two of our best. However, I still think we can win this.
  11. Morton look like they are on a mission. After a poor start to the season Dougie Imrie has them motoring like a juggernaut. Respect.
  12. We will implode and cease to exist. Happy now?
  13. Well done Rovers fans for selling out the Shed. Should be a cracking atmosphere. I hope we get a match to entertain the large crowd. I reckon the team that handles the occasion, plays to win and keeps their heads wins. A hard fought scoring draw would not be a surprise though. Obviously, I hope United will find their form and get over the line with 3 points. But, I think Raith are going into this game with the better form.
  14. If United can just be a wee bit more clinical in front of goal. We are certainly creating enough chances.
  15. I think you should go for Robbie N. You haven't left it too late to make Imo. And hopefully a change of manger will breathe some life into your season.
  16. It was the failure of the board to sanction a critical signing of an actual GK in January that sealed our fate. Goodwin tried, but there was no team spirit there and we were deservedly relegated. Reset under Goodwin has been successful. All signings (bar Denholm) have made an impact. And that is an impressive managerial feat in itself. However, out of necessity, Goodwin has also had to involve a fair few academy players in the first team. And the results of that speak very well as to the nous of Goodwin aligned to the quality of our academy.
  17. Got to say that I have been a bit apprehensive about this fixture this week. I certainly did not expect us to do Thistle for 5 in their own backyard. Well done Jim Goodwin and the boys. Starting to gel as a team now. What a difference from last year's self-inflicted farce.
  18. Raith are having a great season so far. The next league fixture vs Arbroath away will be a test. Arbroath ain't that far away, do you think you will take a good support?
  19. Well, already we know there is gonna be a decent crowd that are going to be up for the game and expecting a good match. I wish I could be there.
  20. Yes, encouraging signs of life at Tannadice just now. The squad have proved to be very miserly at the back and appear to be building a great sense of resilience. Our teams from last few seasons were increasingly a bunch of individuals and there appeared to be no coherent vision from management. Jim Goodwin has done well in building a team and getting the buy-in and growing team mentality. I think that as long as we can avoid a slew of long-term injuries to 1st team squad we can look forward to this team improving as the season progresses.
  21. Early goal. Exactly what we look for in the Goodwin playbook for home games this season. 'Mon United!
  22. I'm looking forward to this fixture. United have shown up well results-wise in the first few games. It does seem encouraging. Apparently Sibbald & The Doc have trained this week so hopefully they have got through that and proved ready for the squad on Sat. Goodwin appears to work them hard in training and seems to have a plan. I know it's counter-intuitive, but I reckon our games at home are more challenging than the 'away' fixtures.
