  1. How are Fulton and Martin doing? Hope you’re looking after them.
  2. That’s a season-after-next problem
  3. Grangemouth is the capital of Falkirk, the two-stadium/two-Kelpie port, and 10% of Scotland’s economy. It’s an honour that the Bairns play there now.
  4. No-one said it was no1 priority but some gave the impression we should just forget it. The calculation is that we shouldn’t spend money on it that could go to higher priorities, which right now is staying in the Championship and thriving, rebuilding the Academy, and building a cash buffer. But we can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can explore ideas of what it could look like, how we’d fund it, who partners might be, how we’d make money from it, how we could use it grow the club, what investors or the local community might get out of it etc. That doesn’t need to be down to the board alone to do all the thinking. It’s our club now, after all.
  5. It would have been a popular thing to change managers after such a traumatic result at Airdrie. But most Falkirk fans when they’d calmed and sobered - myself included - recognised that another turnover would have been daft. Lucky our directors had the courage to lead and take a decision like that. Probably the same for Accies and Rankin, even if Rankin isn’t in the same ballpark. I actually think Accies have a better than Evens chance of promotion via play offs.
  6. The stand is definitely a strategic priority for the club for many of the reasons you give. It should also be one for the Council, for economic development reasons. It certainly isn’t an easy thing to achieve, especially when we’re on our biggest rebuild in a generation. But we got TFS just a few years after we nearly died the last time, so expect the unexpected!
  7. Of course he does. “Average” at best chance of keeping Imrie next season.
  8. If we can get to a situation where there’s two credible starters for each position in a squad of 22, then I think we’ll do well. I certainly don’t want to write any current starter off but we’ll see what JM brings in.
  9. Doesn’t matter now. Third or tenth best budget, the outcome was the same. What we know is that Falkirk came into the season on the back of near oblivion so weren’t spending beyond our means but instead counting every penny, servicing high overheads, and improving how we raised money commercially and from fans. Seems to have worked.
  10. Unless I’ve missed a subsequent story, he’s available in the summer too: https://gmfc.net/george-oakley-becomes-our-third-january-signing/
  11. I don’t for a second believe there’s any blind loyalty or automaticity with McGlynn’s squad management. He’ll be making a cool judgement based on his vast knowledge of our leagues and what he knows he can get for his budget.
  12. I still think Falkirk fans can be a wee bit more intense than many others, but that goes both ways, not just the angry stuff. Look at how we’ve stuck by our team not just in terms of numbers and noise, but also funding and even managing the club. As sure as eggs is eggs, we’ll see tough times again but at least we’ll own the levers to do something about it.
  13. Depends whether or not you were driving at the time?
  14. The Falkirk Stadium is in Grangemouth. No fannying around with that. I have evidence. And that’s okay - most Falkirk fans come from Grangemouth. We’re the hardcore. It’s an honour to us purebloods that the stadium came to The Port. Edited to add: I love it when folk rely on postcodes to argue differently. That means you trust the Post Office computers.
  15. “Absolute farce” give your head a wobble and shake out the dust for f**k’s sake. We’re winning the league at a canter and you’re getting all angry about a peripheral issue.
  16. Nonsense. McGlynn has been open about his rotation policy. And even if it was, two wrongs wouldn’t make a right.
  17. That’s a bit disrespectful. Long has done well for us and had a good season. He deserves to be treated well.
  18. I’m glad he’s signed again. Decent keeper and will only get better. And keeps the champions together. I trust McGlynn here.
  19. Get your point and probably agree with it. We don’t have a large squad at Falkirk anymore. What we have done more this season is move out players who weren’t getting a game (Lawal, Allan, McKay) and replace them with good loan signings (Ross, Tait) while augment other positions (Long, Bisland). It is a double-edged sword - some loan signings don’t work - we’ve had a couple of the past few years. Going back further, it’s also worked spectacularly well - Scmeichel, Stokes, McManus. You just rarely ever get to keep them when they’re good.
  20. We have plenty physicality in our support.
  21. As long as we win, which will be tough, it’ll be another record: every opponent beaten home and away. We’ve now beaten every team in the league and scored at least three at least once in a game. Other records still available… (I know this is geeky and obsessive but I’m thinking about the new display in the Brockville Bar…)
  22. 1789/2500 sold. Another 900 available.
  23. That’s the tattoo. Imagine what we can achieve if we just keep going?
  24. Symmetry if we win at Montrose. I hope Ally McRoberts will be there.
