  1. Shite a draw as it is I’m going to buck the trend here and declare myself looking forward to this. Hopefully the Dunfermline players share the same enthusiasm levels for this that their fans seem to have. There’s plenty at stake with progression in the cup and a potentially kinder tie in the next round for the winner (us).
  2. What about Hitler’s dog and that dog Nixon had?
  3. Had Hendry moving to the pay-day league damaged him a bit? League won’t be close to intensity of Italy or even Belgium I’d have thought.
  4. Clark and Taylor are not international standard. Hopefully we won’t have to rely on either in Germany.
  5. Fans who chuck items at players/officials are utter scum..
  6. Two points here: 1) I think some of our best performances (Kilmarnock, Ayr, Morton) have come away from home. 2) We’ve not appeared to have an issue playing well on grass, which I sometimes feel we have struggled on in past seasons. Both really pleasing obviously. As Murray said early on we’re a different animal this season (injury record aside!(some things never seem to change)) I’ve also much preferred us when we’ve gone 4-1-3-2.
  7. I’d be concerned about having Liam Kelly in the Rovers squad, let alone Scotland. Remember that rule we had about a certain number of u21 players in the old SPL match day squads, it was axed with the complaint all teams did was use the sub goalie slot to name one of the designated u21 players. Seems to me like we haven’t produced a decent ‘keeper since…
  8. Quite something to only be expecting 1000 odd fans yet still manage to give us a shitty view. Joke of a stadium, should have been flattened and the national stadium moved to Murrayfield.
  9. We’re actually called ‘Raith Rovers’. Please correct the thread title.
  10. Starting the last match thread seemed to work out well enough for us. Airdrie handed us our only league defeat thus far but we’ll be gunning for 3 points on Saturday. I would usually expect us to go with the same starting XI but Easton being seemingly back to fitness gives us a headache in that regard.
  11. What about John McGlynn then? He’d almost certainly take the job and is very much a long term squad builder. Also stands a fighting chance of improving you without bringing anybody in. Old, calm head, safe pair of hands. Knows more about the Scottish game than pretty much anybody else I’d say. Gives young players a chance and knows how to pick out a diamond from the youth teams. He turned us from a basket case into a competent team twice and had done it with Falkirk now too.
  12. We may as well get this started. How are Morton fans feeling going into this one? We’ll probably need to play a lot better than we did on Saturday to come away with anything more than a point. We have developed the enviable trait of scoring late goals, something we never really seemed to do last season or before under McGlynn. On the other hand that’s the clock gone back, so…
  13. I’d like to think Murray would stay at the Rovers if you were interested but you’d probably be able to double his salary so… I don’t think he’s the right man for a relegation scrap though. He seems to be more of a slower build manager who’ll be able to shape a team over time to his liking/standards than a come in and get 50% more from existing players than the last guy type. A master tactician he is not. If you went for him I’d see it as an admission you’re expecting to go down already and have an eye on next season.
  14. I’ve just been sent this. Apparently Dunfermline had this pinned up all over their training ground this week. Perhaps McPake and his players should spend more time on trying to find a way to beat us than on worrying about our social media output.
  15. I was given a bottle for Christmas the year before last. Nice, smokey but not too much of the medicinal tcp taste you might expect with a peated Islay.
  16. I bought a bottle of 12yo Kilkerran recently, which I saw off fairly quickly. Lovely stuff. I’ve tried a heavily peated number as well which was nice but even as a fan of peat I prefer their not-so-peaty general stuff.
  17. They’re still giving out the purple hearts minted in 1945 in anticipation of an invasion of the Japanese home islands.
  18. If it is concussion he’ll be out for 10 days.
  19. I find it hard to believe that for a club like Dunfermline the expectation from within the club isn’t play offs as a minimum.
