For me, girls who go to school early (i.e. Jan/Feb birthday and go at age 4) tend to do well, but boys struggle - particularly around S3/4 as they don't have the emotional maturity to cope with the exams. Obviously that's a sweeping generalisation and there are always exceptions, but I find it usually works out that way.

Yeah, my wee sister was born on 28th February so was the youngest in her school intake, not even 4 and a half when she started school but it's certainly never done her any harm. If anything, it helped her development hugely.

We have a sick wee boy here :( puked 5 times yesterday. Fortunately hasn't done it again today but he's very sleepy and sooky. He's not himself, poor wee man :(

He's been sick twice more since I posted that :( won't even open his mouth to take calpol now. Hope he perks up tomorrow.
