In 1986 I was working for Xerox and sold the London Borough of Enfield a matching pair of 300MB 'Winchester' drives - each the size of washing machines - for £70,000.

Yesterday morning our local PC repair shop put a 256GB SSD in to my youngest's laptop for £70.

I feel like the living embodiment of Moore's Law.

I hope that there’s never a grizzly murder in your vicinity, you’ll be stuck on suspects.

Actually I’m lying, I hope that does happen for shit and giggles.

I noticed Peter Dow has a Twitter account. 30,000 tweets in a year.

He is spending most of his time campaigning for the SNP to commission him to sort out the Queensferry Crossing falling ice problem.

What were Peter's highlights on Pie and Bovril?

He was very active on Twitter previously trying to fire into Condoleeza Rice.

reminds me of  a video ive seen - its about the development of Command and Conquer, a game from the mid nineties.

One of the developers giving the talk goes into depth about the huge turnover time the team had for producing game content, the fact they had 100+ machines all compiling code (and in fact started leaving them on overnight out of hours to speed up development), the way they had to have a special cooling room to keep the temperature down etc. etc.

Another studio recently did a remaster of the game and he was talking with this about one of the developers who informed him that when they got the source code for the entire game to do the remaster - which took a huge amount of time and money to get done in the nineties - it compiled on one machine in about 4 seconds. 😂
