jaggyness
Ineos have nobody in the top 10 on GC!WVA has 3.13 on Pogacar! Was today's break the most dangerous to GC since Óscar Pereiro in 2006? We'll certainly see if WVA genuinely can be seen as a GC contender over the weekend. Tomorrow in particular is brutal with 3 cat 1s inside the final 55km of the stage. Gut tells me he won't manage that level of savagery but we'll see. Realistically this is all playing into Pogacar's hands again. Lots of comments about how quickly his team fell apart today but that happened last year as well. The only difference this year will be if JV don't have any riders in GC contention.
buddie06smfc
Felt for Carapaz, attack that came to nothing. Pogacar benefitting from Movistar* chasing him down by the line.Brian Smith commented on this in the Breakaway on Eurosport.I really don’t get the rationale behind Movistar suddenly chasing once Carapaz went, aside from the bad blood between the parties, given Pogacar was isolated. If they were that concerned of the situation they’d surely have chased down the large breakaway. La Flamme Rouge has retweeted a video of Valverde/Kwiatkowski after they crossed the line suggesting all was not well between the parties. Should make for a good episode of the next series of the Netflix documentary (if continuing).

They come up with plans that help riders from other teams just as much as their own on a regular basis.
jaggyness
Speaking of Movistar, I see Valverde has reversed his planned retirement at the end of the year

btb
Pogacer & Carapaz ride away from the main group and then Pogacer breaks Carapaz. Pogacer riding through the initial breakaway group now - gotta luv the mountain stages! Edited July 3, 2021 by btb
jaggyness
Pogacar just destroying the field. He's going to win this tour by miles barring any crashes/mechanicals.

honestly united
5 minutes or so he made up in about 15k up the colombier. Its more about how much Pogacar wins by than if he wins now

jaggyness
Just had a quick look. The last really big winning margin was Ullrich in 97 at just over 9 minutes. That's surely got to be in the realms of possibility for Pogacar this year?

Fantastic ride from Pogacar, but barring something very strange happening, the rest of the tour will be dull, in terms of the GC anyway.
btb
Coupla drop outs today, Roglic finally succumbing to the crash on Day 3 and Van der Poel to concentrate on the Olympics.
peasy23
Quintana having a great day, Ben O'Connor is currently in virtual yellow although that will almost certainly change before the end. Weather fairly dismal again with thunder forecast at the finish.

kiddy
Ben O'Conner racing for yellow. Virtual leader on the road wi 21 km left, but Pogacar has UAE starting to ride hard.
