I'm now almost convinced that Glasgow's music venues are just sticking badges on the beer taps and it's not actually what's in the barrel. Beer at gigs these days is absolutely fucking rancid! Amen to that brother. it's no wonder folk get pre'd before going out these days. Chas n Dave eh, you're some boy Miley. Grimbo -

Chas n Dave were good. They always seem to draw a very mixed crowd, there was a wee woman dancing with a guy with a green Mohican next to me.

Hope you enjoy it though I saw Lordi once at the o2 Academy round about the time hard rock hallelujah was about. Ira Gaines
In the actual SECC? Will give that a miss if so. Yup. And I think their sound is perfect for that place tbh
Dosser-fae-the-shire
Aye, Chas & Dave draw a real mixed bag of a crowd. Just good time music that's catchy and hard not to like. I also enjoyed the ska band they had supporting them, didn't catch their name though... That would be Bombskare.

If you count the 2 songs I caught on Saturday, I've seen them three times now. if I knew it was going to be them I'd have left the pub earlier, great band. looks like the program is no longer available.

ShinobiDandy
Deftones and Parkway Drive/AA both on the cards for 2017 now. Adding that to Depeche Mode and ADTR already bought 2017 is already looking strong

British Electric Foundation were pretty woeful though, aside from a pretty emotional cover of Party Fears Two sung by Glenn Gregory. Glenn Matlock came on and played a horrendous version of Pretty Vacant and then, bizarrely, Happy by Pharrell Williams which might have been the worst thing I've ever heard. Would've much preferred H17 to have stayed and done a greatest hits after Penthouse & Pavement.

With British Electric Foundation it just depends which "guest" artists they have playing, as that defines what they play and how good they seem.
GrahamJags
Heading to Budapest tomorrow to see The Cure and The Twilight Sad. Pretty much my dream gig so I cannot wait. Get back on Saturday then go straight back out to see Ezra Furman at the Liquid Rooms as well. BallochSonsFan
Celtic Connections make a complete c**t of the bookings again with some majorly annoying clashes. Calexico and Hurray For The Riff Raff on the same night. What makes it worse is that they've linked both artists on the "if you like them, you'll love these" bit of their site despite the 2 shows being on at exactly the same time. The White Buffalo and Margo Price clash too. 3 weeks to book acts and every year they ensure at least a couple of clashes with 2 shows that would attract largely similar crowds on the same night.

BallochSonsFan
Bought my Celtic Connections tickets today: Felice Brothers Sarah Jarosz Margo Price James McMurty Shovels and Rope Hurray for the Riff Raff and John Paul White (ex Civil Wars) aren't on sale yet. Overall the line-up is a little underwhelming. No headline grabbing names such as Steve Earle or Emmylou Harris. Some very good gigs but just nothing that I'd consider headlining. I'd have loved to have seen Calexico again but they clash with HFTRR and since I've seen Calexico several times, it's Alynda Lee Seguera who will be getting my money once her tickets go on sale. Pain in the arse - I'd have gone to see The White Buffalo as well but it clashes with Margo Price and I have to see Margo Price. Not the best CC line up. Good, and some gigs I'm really looking forward to, but no headliners.
