ICTJohnboy
Yes. Had a large chunk on Murray 3-0 against someone at the Australian Open 2011, and he was two sets up, and something like 4-2 in the 3rd set, when the guy retired and the bet was void. Was raging, but that's just the way it works. Just looked it up. Karol Beck, 1st round, 6-3 6-1 4-2 before Beck retired. More or less the same thing. Tipsarevic retired because he knew he was completely fecked. Janowicz is brilliant - plays G Simon in the semis - get your money on Janowicz now and pray that Simon doesn't retire before the finish.
fanny paddery
Always check the T&C's as bookies either require the whole match or 1 set to be played, in this case if you had bet with betfair you would have won
blue4578
Some are also one-ball, where if the first point is played all bets stand. There used to be one very significant bookmaker that had a two-set rule, but they fell into line with the majority now who are one-set.
ShakehandsTom - DFC
Showing up my lack of basic mathematical knowledge here, how do you convert a fraction (odds) into a percentage? I.e Calculating what percentage bookies give to a certain outcome?
Fraser Fyvie
I don't know what you're trying to work out or if there's anything special to it but in maths you just divide the fraction and times it by 100. So 1/2 is 0.5 times a hundred is 50(%). Or if the fraction isn't that simple: divide the second number by the first AND second, and times by 100. eg 4/7 would be 7/11 x 100 = 63.63%
Loki
I don't know what you're trying to work out or if there's anything special to it but in maths you just divide the fraction and times it by 100. So 1/2 is 0.5 times a hundred is 50(%). I don't think that is what he was asking. If he is asking how to convert fractional odds into decimal odds that is correct. Shakehands: If you're trying to work out the probability that a bookmaker has assigned an outcome for working out their over-round. Simply you take the bottom of the fraction (denominator) and divide it by the total of top and bottom (numerator and denominator). For instance 1/2 represents 2 occasions of the outcome occurring and one outcome of it not occurring. So you divide the 2 by 3 (2+1). Edited to add: Akpo beat me to it. ShakehandsTom - DFC
What is the best company to open an online account with? Who has the best offers on free bets etc. It all depends on what sort of account/offer(s) you're looking for. I'd advise googling it and seeing which offers suit you best.

Raith Against The Machine
I logged on to bodog to find that the sportsbook has closed down, so tried to withdraw what I had (only £5). The minimum is £10 so I contact them and they say I will only be able to deposit money and then withdraw it all when the site is up and running, yet don't give me any indication of when this will be And then recommend that I play their casino games to boost my (their) funds. Fucking p***ks. How difficult can it be to deposit £5 back to my bank account. Does anyone know when their site will be up and running? Does anyone know what the script is with this? I only remembered today that I had £20 on Brian Graham to finish top scorer in the First Division, and that it was with Bodog, the only thing I'd ever bet with them. Just checked it now and was met with some message about Live Dealer betting. It would appear they've closed down their sportsbook. Have they essentially stolen my twenty quid?

Maybe he had put a few euro's down on himself to sneak 1 set or lose 3-1 and played until he realised it wasn't going to be his day.

Give them an email at service@bodog.co.uk and ask them to withdraw it for you.

ffcsam
Could someone help with my query? It's posted in the "win counter" thread.
MB
Bit of a novice here. Gone for a treble today but one of the games was at Glebe Park. Match now off. What happens? Does it convert to a double or will the bet only be complete when the original fixture eventually gets played? I'm thinking the latter.
