There's a balance, and it also depends on the type of programme. If you binge watch you completely lose the anticipation for the next episode, which is part of the enjoyment. With dramas you also lose the period of reflection where you can consider the developments of the episode and conject what happens next.
Most programmes aren't like Game of Thrones with minor characters popping up with different haircuts two years since they were last referred to. It's easy enough to follow with a week's break between episodes. The problem is the long break between series. The Good Place recently started its final series without any exposition reminding viewers what situation the characters were at the end of the previous series. I think there's a definite strategy now to create television which encourages viewers to rewatch the programme before each new series.

In general, doing anything for ten hours straight isn't particularly healthy and especially in this day and age where companies play on our mental weaknesses it's not a bad idea to practice some self-restraint.

Binge watching, even if it's only 3 or 4 episodes at a time has become the norm. The days of having to be in front of the telly at nine o'clock on a Sunday (or whatever) to catch the latest episode have long gone. Peaky Blinders was a nice exception.  Waiting a whole week for the next episode did feel a bit strange though. But it was worth it.

I'm with you on the reflection and conjecture. Especially when so much work has gone into the production.

George Best was a hoot.

Best was a major embarrassment when he was on Wogan - to himself and everyone watching.  A p***k of the highest order.  Don't remember him with Parkinson, but i'm assuming he was less so from your observation.

Binge watching is a sub-optimal way of viewing TV.
also applies to video games. Lost count of the number of times I restarted FF7 due to not having a clue what I had done and where to go/what to do next.

Also applies to online gaming like TLOU Factions when you cant remember how to craft, reload, etc in the required time to avoid getting shot.
