Ive actually found Microsoft Security essentials to be really easy to install and very non-intrusive. Just needing for internet, some games like FM and Civ5 (Civ 6 when it comes out) and maybe a bit of MATLAB or CAD stuff. Thanks. It used to be easy to judge the spec of a computer. Now it just isn't. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ can tell you how fast processors are compared to each other. For your design stuff, you'd need to check the specs on the software to see if the laptop is up to it. By the sounds of it tho your most demanding thing will be civ. I then decided to uninstall the app but the fucker keeps downloading itself. Yeah, I've looked at all that. I downloaded the BBC Weather app the other day and whenever I went to "my location" it came up as New Delhi. It seems to have stopped doing it now, but I'm still getting promoted ads in Twitter for Indian companies. I downloaded the AVG virus guard and ran a scan in case there was something funny going on in the background, but it came back with nothing.
