NorthernLights
Statement from the official Motorhead Facebook page. There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family. We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words. We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.Have a drink or few.Share stories.Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister1945 -2015Born to lose, lived to win. https://www.facebook.com/OfficialMotorhead/posts/1107561019276205?fref=nf

BFTD
Amazed Lemmy lasted this long - he never seemed like a bloke who'd live to cash his pension (or would care to do so). I haven't heard Motorhead's recent stuff, but I was always amazed at the consistent quality of his music - always worth a listen, and he's left some back catalogue. He wasn't wrong when he said it was "about time" after they were finally given a Grammy.

Mad Capsule
Trivium playing Kilmarnock and Aberdeen at the end of March/start of April. Killie? Strange place for a metal gig. Whats the venue like?
NorthernLights
Killie? Strange place for a metal gig. Whats the venue like? They're playing the Grand Hall which Kasabian played a couple of years ago I believe. Its an interesting set of dates Trivium have lined up as they're clearly avoiding the normal places you'd expect to see on a UK tour. Nice to have a band like this play Aberdeen and I've never been to the Beach Ballroom before for a gig.
Ira Gaines
Grand Hall is pretty good. Was there for Enter Shikari and it was a great atmosphere for it.
IainMorton
Def gonna try for both Trivium dates, will have a look at travel, and also accommodation for Aberdeen, later on.

In terms of location and price I think the Premier Inn on West North Street would be hard to beat. Near the city centre and 15 minutes or so walk to the Beach Ballroom. http://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels/scotland/grampian/aberdeen/aberdeen-city-centre.html

Def gonna do both dates, one of the best gigs I have been to was Trivium at Fat Sams in Dundee, back in 2008. About 300 people there just going mental. Prefer the smaller, club size gigs.

NorthernLights
Some cracking albums on this list - http://www.metalinjection.net/lists/74882 I didn't realise that Morningrise by Opeth was released on my birthday. It is safe to say I didn't get it as a present for my 11th birthday and it would be a number of years before I picked up a copy of it. However To Bid You Farewell was the first Opeth song I heard.
NorthernLights
I know 2016 is not even 4 weeks old but this could be worth keeping an eye on for 2017 - https://www.facebook.com/events/442229555961598/444865679031319/

Mad Capsule
Phil Anselmo acting like a racist hick. Seems to have caused a stir... Robb Flynn's video is a bit long, but I agree with everything he says. No place for this in metal. His point about if Lars Ulrich had said this is pretty accurate too.

Derek Patterson
Robb: "I hear you're a racist now Phil?" Phil: "What?!?!?" Robb: "How did you get interested in that type of thing? Phil: "Who said I'm a racist?" Robb: "Everyone's saying it Phil. Should we all be racists now? What's the official line Down is taking on this? Only the band takes up most of the day and in the evening I just like a cup of tea. I mightn't be able to devote myself full time to the old racism."
