I can tell you that none of our fans looked at that league opener and rubbed their hands together thinking it would be a nice winning start, especially since they drew with us on the league cup the week prior. Was genuinely shocked to see Edinburgh's big away win at Alloa on Saturday as they were absolutely rubbish against us. For me it was three goalkeeping errors that swung that game and of course defending before it gets to the keeper - not great. Excepting that it was a remarkably open game we could have easily ran away with it at 1-0 or clawed our way back at the end on another day. Just an off day for us which hasn't happened too often under BR.

We for sure had woeful managers last season and I'd bet we had a much worse squad than your one that finished 7th in league one. It for sure had been the worst I've seen Falkirk FC in my time

At Alloa he played McGinn’s role. No he didn't. At Alloa, Hetherington's game was all about mobility; pressing aggressively, ball winning, covering midfield runners etc, the role he seems to be playing for Falkirk now under McGinn (as Captain Chugwash and Russ have spotted and explained). Flannigan played McGinn's role. Edited August 16, 2022 by printer
NavyBlueArmy1876
Now that we've changed our entire starting 11 - bar the two fullbacks & Morrison - Nesbitt and Hetherington look just as poor as they did previously. I don't really buy the positional argument tbh, you're either good enough or you're not. Guys like Muirhead, McGhee and Vaulks could all fill in at CB, FB and midfield when required. Equally hoping that Jamie Wilson will turn in to a good wingback because he's utterly pish up front just isn't going to happen. I had hoped that a combination of a competent manager and playing in a better team would see them do ok but it's not looking good at the moment Both have now played over 30 games for the club in total, Nesbitt has done well in maybe a third of them tops (mainly when he's been able to play to his strengths of being fast and having a decent first touch), and I'd struggle to count good performances from Hetherington on one hand. Once McGlynn figures out his best team I doubt either of them will be regular starters

I would say also I used to tear my hear out a la Falkirk fans about Hetherington giving the ball away in seemingly simple situations although once the analysis was done on the games though you generally find out his stats show he wins it more than he loses it. Not sure if that still holds true these days but it certainly was during his time with us.

Put a word in with Ricey and take him back, I feel sorry as he's genuinely giving 110% every game he just doesn't offer anything. Even when we played against Stranraer in preseason he was the exact same and the Stranraer team were honking. The Hibs game was the one exception as he actually looked to be a footballer that night, then against Bonnyrigg it was back to not offering us anything. FFC 1876
Charlie Gilmour off to Cove on loan, still hoping McGlynn's planning on using the bairn for life money to bring in another centre midfielder on loan.

Could that potentially have already been spent after having to bring Hogarth in to cover PJ’s injury?

Hopefully not, obviously doesn't help when 4 of your 12 new signings are out injured. When Henderson's back he gives you another option in the middle of the park.

Given Ross, Sneddon, Wilson and Malcolm haven't really played you'd hope they'll be trying to get a move elsewhere at the moment. It'll be very interesting to see what position we look to bring another player in for.

Russ
Young Lennox Walker is scoring for fun at Bo'ness. Good signing if he continues to developWas at the Bo’ness game against Stirling Uni a few weeks ago and the boy looks a player. Always looking to take his man on and be positive with the ball. Had a couple of decent efforts and was one of the best players on the park for the first hour before falling out the game which you would expect with a young boy. If he keeps up his form I’d be looking to put him out to a higher level in January with a few to bring him into the squad next year.
