I used to fight at 65kgs and if I was ever going to take a pro-fight it would have been at 62.5kgs. It’s been a long time since I was sub-70. I’m small built.

Maybe 4/5 years back when I was running 50k a week regularly I was around 74kg. Missus used to complain then that I was too skinny. 6/7kg heavier now and definitely look healthier for it. Went up to about 86kg when I had to stop running and looked like a fat c**t, but been hitting the weights for the last 18 months and look a lot slimmer than I did at that point, though I have only lost 3 or 4kg in the process.
staggy1929
Ran a 5K last night all on a grass track and my calves felt like they were about to explode the whole time. I reckon I quite easily run double that during a game and that doesn't happen to my calves, quite weird tbh. hoping to do a 10k in 9 weeks.
Bairnardo
I did 5.8 there the now. My plan was to do 8k but when I got to the junction where its either go home or add on the 2.2k I blocked out and went home. My pacing was all over the place too as I had to slow to a walk 3 times and assumed I must be going backwards but got home and realised I was faster than last weeks non stop efforts. My splits were significantly faster, even where a wee 15 second stroll happened. That said, I need to overcome the mental block to get more distance added. I know I need to do it so even if I end up crawling half of it, I need to get it added on. Theres some serious mental game in running it seems. Even at short distances.

Think my 10k is about 9 weeks away too you doing Glasgow? Thats why I signed up and why I need to start adding some distance on but finding it really hard. Will try to get that 8 done this week. Even if its a shite time I need to feel the distance

Still going to the gym regularly but eating utter shite. Maybe a good sign in a way. You sounded chuffed about getting that job etc. Hitting the gym/watching weight etc excessively certainly in my case was a way of blocking stuff out and taking out anxiety etc. In a happier place you might think - "f**k it, what's wrong with getting another pizza at 11pm?". I'm about a stone heavier just now than I had been for years but it doesn't seem to make any difference if I'm sparring. Like @Ross. my missus complains when I train to hard and my daughter says I look like something out of Coco Spoiler when I train to much and cut weight.

Even if its a shite time I need to feel the distance I'm doing the Baxters one in Inverness! Never really done any medium/long distance running outside of football so it's going to be different, and yeah I'm the same when it comes to needing to feel the distance. Time is irrelevant as long as you get it done haha.

I want to do that to get the 10k distance but I dont want to try it before I have at least upped it from my normal 5.8 loop I am at the now so the heat is on. 8 k this week or Bairnardos a fanny
ICTChris
I think I’ve cut a bit of weight over the weekend by having s nasty stomach bug. Going to bottle up some of my spit and sell it as a miracle weight loss programme - Chris’ Shit and Puke Yourself Thin.

Eg if you've been doing it in the morning try just before your dinner in the evening when your stomach is staring to growl.

Yeah i am used to doing it in the morning as that is my preference but maybe changing it up would help. Its just when the youngest goes for her nap is the only tine of day that isnt fucking bedlam here

If you hang around some public bogs you'll soon find a friendly chap willing to look after the nippers for a bit to give you that free time you need.

Pretty much the way I built up my distances years back was by adding an extra detour every time. Sometimes only adding on a couple of hundred meters, sometimes a couple of km. Always knew where I was relative to the house and would decide each time if I was OK for the extra. Problem there came when I was doing an organised race. Found it much more difficult to pace myself and judge the distances!

I started Muay Thai in my early twenties after too many altercations with neds in Glasgow (long hair and a beard makes for hassle). I find it very difficult to put on muscle mass, shite body type.

Nothing worse than the old norovirus for feeling human.
