Don't think about what a strong person should lift everyone's different and most people don't even bother doing it. Yeah I go quite deep, deeper than the majority of gym goers anyway. Been training for four years and used to be a skinny beanpole, not so much now. You're probably right though. Is it more beneficial doing those smaller sets of mega heavy? I think im 85kg (13 stone?!). I just kinda mix and match my workouts. Some weeks ill go heavy and some weeks ill go lighter with more reps. Upto 110kg on the squats and stick to 5 sets of 5. Personally, i think it is good to mix between both to keep your body guessing. You can probably lift more than you think. Just keep gradually adding weight. The worst that can happen is you cant lift it. Purchasing weightlifting shoes changed all that and really helped my squatting ability over time. A slightly better sound than your knee popping but still... Don't plan on doing lifting at the moment, so various weight machines, bit of cardio and some HIIT-type classes. Anyway, got talked into booking some PT sessions, which is probably what I need to give me a bit of kick up the erse. D.A.F.C Posted April 28, 2015 Share Posted April 28, 2015 Changed whey protein from Holland and Barrett Precision whey to the Gold Standard stuff. Have to say it seems to agree with me more. Lot less wind anyway! Around 11ish stone now and 13% body fat. Still carry a small gut but finding the HIIT style cardio works well and saves time. Short of stopping drinking completely it's going to be incredibly difficult to shift. I don't think I'm getting enough sleep though, six hours a night on average. It's supposed to be really important and I notice at the weekend my gut almost disappears after a ten hour kip on Sunday.
