Ya Bezzer!
I read that the game today between West Ham and Doncaster is their first since 1958. It got me wondering which two clubs in Scotland have gone the longest since they last played each other (not counting the newer entrants to the league who haven't played everyone yet). I'd be pretty surprised if there are any that examples that go back as far as 1958 though. Any suggestions? With Queens, by my reckoning the team we've currently gone the longest without playing is Celtic. I think our last meeting was in 1990. But I'd imagine that there are plenty of teams that can go back further than that. Excluding the new league entrants the longest period for Motherwell is 44 years since we played Montrose. Pretty amazing that they have never played in my lifetime. I've been keeping my own records since 2003, after that I was depending on the internet. EDIT: If you include the new league entrants Motherwell last played Elgin in the Scottish Cup in 1909, a mere 107 years ago. TheScarf
Forgot about that. Remember contemplating going up for the game I mentioned but I was only 16 and mum never let me leave school early for the bus. Were you at the Gayfield game? Sure the handful of ICT fans that were there just stayed behind the goal and never done the usual half time swap, sound group of guys from what I remember having a decent laugh with the home support. Yeah I was there mate. Got the afternoon off work via flexi time and went down on the supporters bus.

The Mantis
Situation for ICT is obviously different but quite interesting (to me at least ) . this is all off the top of my head though so not guaranteed. have met (and beaten) every team competitively since 1994 although Annan were a non-League side when we got our record 8-1 win in 1998. have met every club in a League match except Dumbarton, Peterhead, Elgin, Berwick, Annan and now Edinburgh City. we have never visited Dumbarton, Annan or Elgin in a competitive match. Have won everywhere else except Berwick and Stranraer. spent 3 years in div 3, 2 years in div 2, 5 years in div 1 then every other year except 2009-10 in the top league. in 98-99, Steve Paterson's side scored in all 36 league matches. our first ever opponents East Stirlingshire are now the first club to be relegated from the SPFL. Bogs_Dollox
Aberdeen haven't played Peterhead since our one and only meeting in the 1923 Scottish Cup. We won 13-0 Bizarrely we havent played Forfar since 1923 either - the round before the Peterhead game! We played yous in the cup at station park a couple of seasons ago ....
Bogs_Dollox
You beat us 3-0 in the Scottish Cup in 2009-2010.So is our gap with Aberdeen the longest? Unbelievable considering the amount of draws we will have been in together. We played Aberdeen a few years back at station park in the Scottish cup 11/12 season 4th round

East Stirling at 14.5 years seems almost recent by comparison. More than 12 years since we played Motherwell is in 3rd. Montrose are 4th with 11 years. We've played everyone else at least since our 2008 Scottish Cup Final appearance. In fact of the other 37 sides, only Berwick, Clyde, Queen's Park, Inverness and Peterhead are even over 5 years since our last meeting, though Stirling will be over five years in a fortnight and Dunfermline will also make it to 5 years before the end of the season, though it looks likely we'll be seeing them next season. A chance of the Celtic run ending in January. We're going to lose at Albion Rovers, aren't we?

Edinburgh City are a new entry at 11th as we played them comparatively recently in the Scottish Cup (12/13 season). At the very top Celtic remain a mile clear. It's now 26 years since we've faced them, 14 years longer than the next longest which is now Motherwell. We had a chance to play Celtic in the Scottish CUp in January but contrived to make a backside of it at Albion Rovers to blow it. Montrose are now 3rd longest at almost 12 years. We've played everyone else at least since our 2008 Scottish Cup Final appearance. In fact of the other 39 sides, only Berwick, Clyde, Inverness, Peterhead and Stirling Albion are even over 5 years since our last meeting. Sixtyten
I can't be arsed doing a full list, but I'm sure our two most distant opponents are Motherwell from the 96/97 season and Kilmarnock from 99/00.
