vikingTON
As we all know and as this thread testifies, Greenock Morton are the definition of a #box-office club in Scottish football. And so like other institutions in this group, there comes a time of review and reflection each year in which we too must pay our respects to those who can no longer be with us. @CALDERON @roverthemoon @Scary Bear @Zen Archer @Wee Sandy @honeyboy edwards @No 1 Diver @RRFC2711 @baillieinleeds @Wardy @Ebanda's Handyman Services Raith Rovers FC. Cause of death: Act 1 - Appointing John Hughes while midtable in the second tier, only for him to take the club careering into the play-offs after a parade of trouncings. Where they lost in the semi-finals to Brechin City - a pub team rabble that itself would go on to win precisely zero games in their ill-fated Championship campaign. To be continued.
vikingTON
Cause of death: Act 2 - Sent spinning into the weakest seaside league in living memory, Raith appear certainties to slither back up as champions at the first time of asking. Despite the appointment of gormless failure Barry Smith reducing them to the supreme indignity of being involved in a title battle with Ayr United, they find themselves clear at the top with just one home match remaining. A huge crowd of 4500 shows up to try and coax their team across the winning line - but they spectacularly bottle it instead. So back to the play-offs they go, only to get hounded in both legs by a part-time team and kicked back into the seaside leagues for another season. Which with the club having already started selling its season tickets in March to keep the bills paid until the end of this season - and having given Barry Smith a hilarious, two year deal - looks set to be an even grimmer experience for poor, little Raith than any in their 135 years of unmitigated failure. Won't be too long before Kelty supplant them as the second biggest team in 'the Kingdom' as well. What a terrible, wee shame that is. -
Popular Post Coventry Saint
Ripping into the likes of Raith and Brechin really just reminds us all how fucking diddy Morton are, tbh.

Scary Bear
If only we had a great feeling at Stark’s Park. Maybe put out the call for Tidserou.

The glorious part is, I'd still put money on Raith being back in the top flight before Morton.

TheMessiah
Fair fucks to VT for still trying to give it big licks after his team finished 7th, only 3 points above the worst Falkirk side in living memory. Being a perennial mid-table side in Scotland's second tier must be as frustrating as it is boring, not good enough to go up, too good to stay down when they are relegated. Just endless nothing, year after year. Probably how you end up with such a high proportion of absolute riddy posters like VT and Rudolph.
