Rangers braced for release of tape of boardroom meeting that led to removal of ex-chief Charles Green 20 May 2013 07:19

GREEN was placed on gardening leave after the meeting on April 13 in which he was grilled about his links with former chairman Craig Whyte. He resigned six days later.

RANGERS are braced for the release of a tape of the dramatic board meeting that led to the ousting of former chief executive Charles Green.

The meeting – one of the most controversial in the club’s entire history – has reputedly been recorded on a tape which is now set to be put on the internet.

An email sent by someone going by the name of Joe Ninety has threatened to make the meeting public at the conclusion of the internal Rangers investigation into Green’s links with disgraced ex-chairman Craig Whyte.

The meeting – on April 13 – saw Green grilled by his fellow directors about Whyte. He was put on “gardening leave” and resigned from Rangers six days later on April 19.

The threat to go public with the boardroom tape comes after the release of a recorded conversation between sacked Rangers commercial director Imran Ahmad and underfire chairman Malcolm Murray, which has been made public via a Twitter account.

The same emailer is involved with both tapes. In a reference to the Rangers internal commission, the emailer claims: “Have VR (voice recording) of board meeting discussing sacking IA (Imran Ahmad)/CG (Charles Green) whatever happens to prove this but will release this after commission is finished.”

The email goes on to claim Walter Smith and the rest of the club’s non-executive directors (NEDs) will be booted off the board at an extraordinary general meeting of Rangers

shareholders.

The meeting has been called for by controversial tycoon brothers, Sandy and James Easdale, who are expected to buy Ahmad and Green’s Rangers shares.

It claims: “Rangers NEDs will all be voted out at EGM for gross negligence.”

Lovely phrase

Had to explain to a colleague who Joe 90 was. Looks to me like it could be Craig Whyte in a cunning disguise!

Joe 90 is IA according to FF

Here is the email that was sent with the recording.

This VR is why MM has a personal vandetta and is not objective re CG and IA. The £1m spent on Pinsents could have been spent more wisely by spending £500k with Allen and Overy to shut CW up forever.

Much more to come. CG/IA delivered £35m to Rangers and everyone makes them villains when proven liar CW comes out with a pack of lies. It will take a few months but the truth should hopefully come out.

Just need Malcolm’ s personal Witch Hunt/vandetta ahem “Independent Commission” complete and lawyers will sort CW (lawyers don’t want to start case just in case anything out of MM personal witch hunt contradicts case against CW) out once and for all….

Whole Rangers board is grossly negligent carrying on with a Witch Hunt which can never be conclusive. The only way to know whether CW is involved or not is to take him to a real court and shut him up forever.

MM and WS have made a big mistake. They have set up a firing squad independent commission when they were planning on firing CG and IA whatever the outcome (have VR of board meeting on 15/4 discussing sacking IA/CG whatever happens to prove this but will release this after commission is finished). They’re now stuck with an internal investigation which can only harm the club if it comes up with an inconclusive decision as it will give the CW conspiracy theorists a field day if they do not come up with a definitive yes or no.

Rangers NEDs will all be voted out at EGM for gross negligence as petitioners have the right to amend and add resolutions which they will of course do.

so, theres apparently evidence that the old board is involved with members of the new board, the chairman wants this investigated and the members of the new board are angry over this ?

even if Whyte is a proven liar, anyone innocent would have quietly bided their time to be proved innocent. not gone on a rant like IA.

given all the stuff coming out of the charlotte fakeover account and the way imran and Charlie are behaving... i got a feeling theres no smoke without fire. and there is alot of smoke here.

end of season Fritzl moment anyone ?

I cant claim to know anything about the tape/s but i heard that Smith will walk before pushed...In fact i heard he has been put in a position where he has no option. The Manager could also be asked to leave as well.

Welcome to the beginning of the end

Could be the beginning of the beginning. It is in the interests of the rest of Scottish football, that McCoist is allowed to stay and continue to develop his interesting and radical ideas on how the game should be played. Scottish football cannot afford to lose such a shrewd tactician, who has an uncanny knack of spotting a players true position, even when said player has been playing a completely different position all his career. The guy is a genius and all things been equal, he would be at Man Utd, but for his undying loyalty to the rangers.

Maybe he was just telling the truth. Why are you so antagonistic about seeing the whole thing?

The truth about what, why did he feel it necessary to include his religious upbringing in a question about football?

More importantly was there any sporting advantage gained through employing this 'McCoist'?

Difficult to prove I fear...

I can hardly keep up with these tapes and leaks coming out Sevconia. It's all good though, HMS Sevco-Dignity on the rocks and about to go under.

I have heard that before...TBH i have heard that many many many times.

54 TITLES AND STILL GOING STRONG.

How many of those times were this time last year?

You couldn't make it up. Everybody involved with Rangers/Sevco seems to be damaged goods.

A shame this forum has been bored into indifference by the Sevco brigade, no doubt with the best of intentions trying to protect their beloved club from the keyboard jocks. What they have done is merely protect the wrong people.

Listened to the telephone conversation recorded between Imran Ahmed and Murray the chairman.

Ahmed quite smart at this type of thing. Obviously has done it before. Get the accusations in on a regular basis, tell him about the independent evidence (video from fans), tell him is being recorded, looking for immediate decisions. He knew exactly how to play it.

And as for Murray. He was clueless. How did he ever become chairman? Not even a 'how dare you' or 'who do you think you are'.

Established technique played by Green, when appointing a chairman make sure you get someone you know how to yank their cord so they run away at a time that suits you. Murray comes across like that. No backbone, likes a bevvy, can't think on his feet (give me 5 minutes), and knows he is in a weak position by his words and attitude.

So the Green and Whyte brigade are winning the media battle - at least until it comes to a vote. The drunken wanderings on video of Murray are pathetic. We have all been there, but we are not the chairman of a significant business. So we will end up getting the bus boys waved in as directors.

Two things needed to save this club.

1. The SFA step in, even on some trumped up concern just to scare the cowboys off.

2. Ally and Walter take some action on their roles. Ally may be on £750k, but does he really need it? Walk and take your coaching team with you. He will only do this if he cares more for the club than for his bank balance. Same for Walter.

What a fustercluck this is. I can't work out who is meant to be enemies with whom in the Rangers boardroom. When will their fans stand up for the club? As in really stand up for it not the 'yis r all enemies n pyur jelus' pish that they normally come out with. If Rangers fans truly believed in 'dignity' Fc Rangers of Govan in the Junior league is the way to demonstrate it.

More dithering from Regan, i've a feeling we're going to get f**ked pretty soon with a large fine and demotion.

Scottish FA chief executive Stewart Regan has described alleged links between former Rangers chief executive Charles Green and Craig Whyte are a "very serious issue".

The governing body will wait until the outcome of a report, commissioned by the Ibrox club before deciding any action is required.

In April the Ibrox side appointed investigators from Deloitte and Pinsent Masons to look into claims made by former owner Whyte over his relationship with Green during the change of ownership last summer.

Green resigned his position in April but "strenuously denied any wrongdoing".

Regan said: "We wrote to the club and expressed our concerns on a number of points related to the revelations in the press about the links between Craig Whyte and Charles Green.

"The matter was then handed over to Pinsent Masons under the stewardship of Roy Martin QC and we have agreed that we will wait until that report is concluded.

"The report is being done very much on an independent basis. The club have agreed to share the findings of that report with us so that we can get transparency on the questions that we asked.

"And until that comes out it's probably wrong to speculate on what might or might not happen."

In April 2012, the Scottish FA banned Whyte for life from "any participation" in Scottish football for a range of breaches of the association's rules and regulations.

The 42-year-old claims he was behind Sevco 5088, the company originally designated to subsequently purchase the assets and business of the club.

However Green says he and business partner Imran Ahmad, only told Whyte what he wanted to hear in order to secure a deal with the club's administrators.

Regan refused to be drawn over whether any alleged dealings would affect the club’s eligibility to play football and the transfer of the club's Scottish FA membership to Green's new company, which was agreed last summer.

"It's unfair to comment on what may or may not have happened on Rangers," said the Scottish FA chief executive.

"It's clearly a very serious issue. The club is aware of how serious it is and we have been in discussions with the board of Rangers on that particular point.

"That's why they have taken the step of appointing Roy Martin QC and Pinsents to come back with the information we seek.

"We fully expect those questions to be answered by the nature of the report. The clubs have shared terms of reference for the investigation and it's a very thorough investigation.

"We're expecting the report in the near future."
