Monday Night Raw Live

Only caught the opening hour or so of this before work (pretty much up until AJ Styles confronted Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns) and the thing that struck me was the commentators' disclaimer at the beginning of the show to warn the audience about the crowd's chants andd how some fans will boo the wrestlers they're supposed to cheer for and vice-versa. I thought that would have set up some kind of big moment towards the end of the show, some kind of bait and switch leading to a swerve or a turn, but after reading the results and the comments on here, that doesn't seem to have been the case at all.

It's pretty weird to see such a big company hold contempt for their fans in that way. I'm sure Michael Cole said later on that the crowd was made up of "traditional" WWE fans (something which couldn't have been further from the truth?), so I'd imagine the company want a nice, compliant audience who happily lap up what's put in front of them without question.

Strange stuff! I look forward to watching the rest of it this evening, if only to see the Swiss Superman return to action.

I'm sure Cole said a few times that it wasn't a traditional crowd, and was a more raucous hardcore style.

He did, first thing before any segment started. Non traditional crowd, boo folk they normally cheer and cheer folk they normally boo. Pathetic that they said that. Never heard him say it was hardcore fans tho.

You wonder how much input HHH has to writing and raw because NXT seems to be thriving with the hardcore fans.

For selfish reasons I am disappointed if too many NXT talents get moved on at the one time. I loved the tag division but if thats Enzo & Cas moved on and the Vaudevillains too that's disappointing from an NXT point of view. Don't really think they will miss Corbin and Apollo. Nakamura looks class but I don't really care for Aries move him up.

Huge feeling Enzo and Cass will get really stale, really quick. Definite ceiling with that act

Enzo is good enough on the mic that he can think on his feet and keep it fresh.

Anyone else think that there's definite signs of the much fabled Roman heel turn going on last night's show. The wee arrogant speech, the dismissal of Sami Zayn when he entered, the fact that they're putting him up against someone who is a clear fan favourite in the shape of Styles?

You're giving the creative team far too much credit. He will have acted that way last night because it's the only way he could react in front of that crowd.

Once they return to regular raw crowds they will have him act like the huge babyface they want him to be, while burying AJ no doubt.

I have no problem with them burying AJ though tbh. Not hugely impressed by him in terms of charisma or promo ability, and there are better in ring performers than him too.

Kevin Owens for me is the most under utilised and complete performer on the roster, and should be a major player in the main event scene by now.

I thought that too, but my thoughts immediately turned to Hogan and Cena, who spent long periods as what I would describe as "arsehole faces"
