scottsdad
Reading between the lines, seems he has been injured for the first half of the season and has just been back in training for a few weeks. At 35, the question is: will he be the player he was? Or are Dundee just letting you have him to get him fit? Might be doubtful that he'll come bursting into your team and strolling matches left and right straight away.

You only have to look at you guys with Meekison.
The Toun Clock
Happy with that. Bags of experience, still has quality and going by the Dundee fans on here and twitter they’re fairly surprised to see him go, which says a lot. Keep him fit and he’ll pop up with goals and assists in the next two months that will be vital. I thought he might have joined in the summer when McPake mentioned the player with a lot of experience but it looks like it was Niall McGinn we were after.

But if this was a 25 year old coming back from half a season or so out, I would be a bit more concerned than I am about a 35 year old.
Stellaboz
Is he central midfield? I know of him but don't know too much about him.
Chubbychops
McGowan is class. Our midfield was crying out for a bit of quality and experience like him. If we can keep him fit for 4 months, we're laughing. Edited February 21, 2023 by Chubbychops
Bairn in Exile
2 minutes ago, Chubbychops said: McGowan is class. Personal life[edit] In December 2013, McGowan pleaded guilty to attacking two police officers at Coatbridge police station on 11 August.[79] On 8 January 2014, the sheriff ordered McGowan to do a 130 hours of unpaid work and a one-year supervision order.[80][48] Manager Danny Lennon believed McGowan was lucky to avoid a jail sentence. McGowan was told by Sheriff Frank Pieri " that the punishment was a 'direct alternative' to custody and told him to behave in future or face prison".[81] As a result of this incident, McGowan was disciplined by the club.[47] For the second time in 2014, McGowan was arrested after attacking a community support constable at Coatbridge Police station.[82] McGowan was convicted of assault on 19 March 2015.[83] On 15 April 2015, McGowan was spared a jail sentence, but was placed on a restriction curfew for sixteen weeks and had to wear electronic tags, meaning he could not play in midweek matches for the duration of the order as he had to be at home by 7pm each day.[60] Following the incident, McGowan apologised for his actions and said he hoped to become a better person, having a problematic lifestyle of alcohol and gambling,[84] while the club stood by him.[85] McGowan is a father of a son. In the wake of his conviction in April 2015, he vowed to be a better father by putting his life on track for the sake of his son.[86] In July 2018 McGowan was again convicted of assault, this time for spitting on a bouncer outside a Dundee nightclub two months earlier after attending the club's annual awards event; he again avoided a prison sentence for the offence and was instead given a community service order

I certainly don't need moral guidance from a Falkirk fan.
da_no_1
I'm not surprised that Raith/Falkirk fans are all over this like a rash. Not one bit. They would never dream of signing any questionable characters.

101
He has done his punishment and apologised for his conduct let's not run into some kind of moral panic conflating McGowan and other less desirable footballers.

FFC 1876
Better increase your security staff, need more bodies to huddle round the police when McGowan decides he fancies round 5.
