Walking Down The Halbeath Road

Recommended Posts

A lot of day 1 photos on the socials now, new training kit looks class.

But random but was on Instagram and noticed KRH had been doing 1-1 sessions with the Joe Cardle academy the other day to regain fitness. Also noticed JC been doing larger sessions with a mix of people including Matty Todd, Lewis McCann, Dylan Easton, Paul Allan, Blair Alston and Callum Smith. I wonder the opinion of managers when players are going in and doing these sessions with guys at other teams. I don’t really mind it but I can imagine some wouldn’t be keen.

Is it wise even if this is true? If its in confidence I'd be questioning the leaky source in the club.

They will be keeping their fitness up before pre-season starts, I don't really see the issue. I'm pretty sure Dylan Easton and Nat Wedderburn help out Cardle with his academy, maybe a few others as well.

I’m not sure @Stellabozwas responding to me, more the contracts for young players. Easton was very much taking part in the session, videos are on Instagram.

You are sadly bang on bud

I heard we had promised to sign three academy players on full time contracts. One was John Tod. Not sure who the other two were. Tod and one other signed on £150 a week.
Third lad was told they couldn’t afford him

worrying very worrying

da baracus will be along soon to throw toys about

So to clarify our management team told one of the youth players they would not be offered a contract because we don't have an additional £150/week?

I don't think managers would mind too much, players have been doing training runs with guys from other clubs since god was a boy.  It's not like they are are sharing tactical secrets

In the main the thoughts are if they are meeting their training plan rather than where they do they do it or who they do they do it with.

As a neutral looking in it seems that with everyone now being fit you have the core of a good squad and a decent size already.

Reading between the lines you'll maybe have the scope for 3-4 further conditions based on budget. Therefore I wouldn't be too worried if you're not getting into bidding wars with other Championship clubs that could reduce the number of players you bring in (or certainly their experience).

The Courier piece could be seen as standard managerial practise to try and squeeze a wee bit more from the funds.

Add a couple of experienced players and a couple of decent loans and you shouldn't be too far away from a competitive squad.

Actually think the club statement is OK. I continue to be on board with what they are trying to do but don't think the majority of fans would agree. Going to be a hostile environment if the team struggle in any way. If they want to buy themselves more time with fans, they absolutely have to do more to sell the wider vision. Training facilities, academy, financial projections, etc - not enough being done to convince supporters that this is all worth lower short-term investment in the first team squad.

Aye sorry I mean about the wages some lads are on.

I agree even if you know from the player directly it’s a bit weird to be talking on an anonymous football forum directly about how much you know, or claim to know, players to be on.

Learning to cut inside and shoot properly.
Wee Joe was as slippy as a bag of snakes when on his game, he has plenty skills to offer players

Agreed, I’m glad we’ve heard something from the club at last. Many of us agreed that we would have done a lot better last season if we didn’t have the freakish amount of injuries we did. If we add wisely we should do well this season. I was hoping for the investors to dig into their sizeable bank accounts and invest heavily in the push for promotion this season, but that looks unlikely or, imo, it would have been happening by now.

Sign Joe!

Not sure why you'd be hoping for them to do that when they've said from the start that isn't what they'll be doing.
