NotThePars
CK3 doesn't work on my slightly dated MacBook. Have been deliberating getting a new one for ages and this might just be the straw.
G51
CK3 looks the business. Feel like it'll take a while to learn the layout though

Not been keeping up to date with any tech stuff for years. So it was a bit of a shock to discover that AMD CPU’s ain’t shit. So I’ve replaced my old 4770k for a Ryzen 3700x. Still using my 1080 the now.

Just got my first 3/4 hour session in and it's every bit as good as advertised. I've still a bit of figuring out to do regarding the religious side of things (I really fancy the idea of founding my own Catholic heresy) but I still managed to figure out most of it.
Mackie The Staggie
Did my first real session on CK3 last night, gave the tutorial a miss and headed straight to Ireland, the classic starting location of CK2 They've done a really great job with the UI in my opinion, it took a while to realign myself but once I got the hang of it, everything just felt right, while the tool tips are greatly improved on CK2's efforts, making it more accessible for newcomers. Don't mistake that for it being dumbed down as I think there is still as much depth at the base level CK3 as there was with CK2 and all thier expansions. I would suggest however that you lower the tooltip delay to it's lowest setting, just makes the flow easier I've found. I'm really liking the new character/lifestyle/stress system, although I do think you need to change the mindset to get the best of it. I've seen a number of complaints about how the bad traits mean increased stress levels due to choosing decisions which go against their character traits. For me in those scenarios, I will go with what the character would do, not what you want it to do (by that if I have a ruler whose a bit introverted and dislikes socialising, then I would go with an option that would reflect that unless the gamble was really worth it), it just makes roleplaying that a bit easier. My heir in my Ireland game appears to be a bit of a psychopathic b*****d so looking forward to going as that. I've not really looked deeply into the religion aspect as of yet, I think I need to set an afternoon aside to really dig into the in's and outs of that system. One thing I do miss is the treasury, I loved in CK2 seeing a sword passed down from generation to generation being swung in battle. In one game I lost a the family axe of Clan Ross, I spent the next 2 generation waging war against the faction who took it in a bid to see if the game would give it back......never did. Again it's something that adds to the story generation and roleplay aspect which I would like to see come in. I've had to uninstall the game at the moment, I have stuff to do before the weekend which I need to get done tonight and tomorrow which simply wouldn't get done if that was still installed...I'm not strong enough to resist. Come the weekend however......yeah, I'm not moving from my desk I think.
NotThePars
I’ve heard it said that it actively encourages players to role play their character more than just gaming the system which is good. I still struggle on specific starts in CK2 but understand it enough to get by in most situations even if I have bad RNG. Will be good to have a proper challenge again. Also from my brief dive around the menus it’s good that your demesne is clearly highlighted even if you’re a vassal.

It runs Doom. That's the important thing.

Replays
Sounds as though the 3080 launch was a bit of a shit show (in USA anyway). On the off chance anyone is looking, overclockers.co.uk have some for pre-order here: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/graphics-cards/nvidia/geforce-rtx-3080%3ftemplate=amp

GiGi
What peripherals are folk using? I've been using a Corsair combo for 2 or 3 years now, Strafe keyboard and Scimitar mouse. Bit bored of the keyboard and looking to get a smaller mechical board with lighter switches, using MX blues with this one. Also the iCue software for Corsair stuff is a pain in the hoop.

What form factor are you looking for? 60%, 65%, TKL etc. As a rule of thumb the big gaming brands are best avoided as what they charge for their boards have a large 'gamer tax' & the quality of their products doesn't meet the price. On the switch front cherry clones by the likes of gateron, kailh et al are better than their cherry counterparts & also cheaper. I personally use gateron yellows which are in between red & black switches for heaviness. If you are interested in trying out different switches I'd highly recommend getting a board with hotswap as these allow for changing switches without de-soldering.

I was looking at Ducky, Durgod etc. Most of them still seem to come with cherry switches and tbh I've never tried anything else but from research the clones look perfectly fine depending on what you're after for feel, sound etc. No snobbery from me. Looking at going with cherry browns/clears or the equivalent elsewhere. Also interested in cherry black. As for soldering I've no time or interest in it at the moment but hotswap boards sound about right.
grazza
Got PES 21 for 9.79 for steam from cdkeys and enjoying it. Other than that picked up quite a lot of oldish games mostly around £2 mark and none over a fiver from either steam, cdkeys or gamesplanet. Sonic Mania for £3.37 seemed like a good deal.
