Thankfully have never worked on an Agile project but aren't scrums and all their other made up pish compulsory?

No idea, these things are flavour of the month then they move on but the lingo remains. I've got hubs and cohorts coming out my ears.

  • 2 months later...

Things I learned from a recent Data and Analytics conference;

  • Attempting to boil the ocean is not recommended.
  • Any question asked is either a good or excellent question.
  • Viewing the world with one eye shut is also not recommended.
  • Data is the new oil (which I presume means it is made up of dead dinosaurs?).
  • Dominos sell an absolute shit load of pizzas.

Iv worked a couple of places where they try on that "lunch and learn" shit.....

"Hey grunts, why not spend your unpaid lunch break continuing to work by listening to someone waffle about work? Lunch WIL NOT be provided"

Attendees should be documented and shunned by normal people

They tried to make that mandatory at one place I worked, until people started bringing in absolutely stinking home made lunches and eating them in the lectures

You wonder about the logic of yer mid level management types that try that stuff on. You pay me for my time m9, if you want more of it, you can make an offer.

Lots of folk now have "other reasonable duties" clauses in their contracts.

I make it my duty to ensure that all these requests are proved entirely unreasonable

I'm the same as you. One thing I cannot stand and thus far have managed to fight back against in my working life is having my time wasted. I don't care if you don't value what i'm doing or not doing, or whether you think i'm sat doing f**k all. If you want to load shite onto me you better tell me what i'm dropping. Liberty taking basturts!!!

Every teaching contract I have had here is "at will".

Basically, they can terminate me without warning and/or I can leave with no notice.

It's pretty shit.

Aye I've heard of this awful practice. Think only a few states don't have it. It's just more greed driven inhumane pish designed to ensure that the rich don't lose a single penny.

Bit harsh, probably fair though. Trust the process.

Montana is the only not completely “at will” State. 8 of the other 49 have “no allowable exceptions”, by law, to “at will” status. “At will” is a term meaning you can be fired for any reason, limited only by anti-discrimination law.
