The comparison to Jenks with this boy at palace is really based on very little. I think a Teklic type is needed. It's obviously not as urgent to get as centre backs and a left back but we definitely need to increase creativity in the squad. Right now we only have Clarkson and Duk that are probably going to be clocking up a decent number of assists this season. We definitely need to add to that department. Clarkson had started UCL games. OK it didn't work at Blackburn but I don't think you can compare Clarkson and Phillips. All 3 did or will enter the club as unknown quantities and will have a range of ability. The point is none of us really know anything about him. Anthony Stewart came in much lauded by Wycombe fans with championship experience, Angus McDonald was disliked by league 2 Swindon fans. Been on loan to lower league rubbish you have to google which league. The counter argument is Leighton Clarkson, who we knew little about. I think it’s the optics of going from an exciting, young Croatian who’s highly rated, to another English based lad who was at Shrewsbury. Besides, my sheets are close to being soiled at the lack of a defence. 2 centre halves needed, & please don’t tell me we’re going with Hayes & MacKenzie at LB/LWB?! Which is fine and Clarkson did not come in to instantly command 90 mins every game. Is Scales one of them? I was told the clubs were miles apart fee wise. This was several weeks ago. On Clarkson, he came on to a game in the second half of the season.
