KMaC was on before tonight's game and revealed he'd been on Rangers fan forums (naw!) and had sussed that Sevcoites were worried about what he called 'the Hampden Effect': lack of atmosphere, not being able to pen away supporters in that horrible wee oxter of the big hoose where they can be properly intimidated etc. He quoted some Ibrox leg-end as suggesting playing at Hampden reduced their chances from 70% to 50%.

Getting excuses in first.

We can only hope Kenny stumbles across P&B when doing his research.

In terms of how many times the football 'journalists' say... "in terms of.." tomorrow, it may be in terms of several dozen times. It may possibly be over one hundred times. Jonathan Sutherland managed to say it 23 times in little over 5 minutes recently. Steven Thompson now appears to have the speech deficiency too. In terms of saying in terms of so often they all sounds mad.  It appears that in terms of having a lack of imagination, they have been sucked into this mire, where to sound thoughtful and to buy themselves time.. they will be saying "in terms of"  so frequently, that they may all want us to think that they have actually all gone completely bonkers.

In terms of them all saying that they touched on this earlier, then listen to Kris Boyd and Leanne Crichton who in terms of saying "touched on this earlier" are taking this to a new crazy level... In terms of being unable to think what else to say. Apologies if somebody touched on this earlier.

See also: "From the get-go". Observe how many times that pops up in any given match analysis.

It's another f**king puerile Americanism that should be shunned by anyone over 15 anyway, but taken to new depths by Crichton recently where even she noticed she was saying it constantly, and corrected herself viz "We seen (sic) that right from the g... right from the start of the game".

And don't even mention McLeod's latest affectation of referring to the six yard box as "The Six". "Another dangerous ball across the six".

No mate, that's a news show n the BBC Scotland channel.

It was a language tic that infected the place I worked in c1991-93 and it drove me mad then. Amazing, hang on, not amazing that it's taken so long to get to BBC Scotland Rent-a-Pundit.

So the Sports news leads with Aberdeen are hosting Queen's Park but then of course goes on to say they will be covering Falkirk v Hearts and Sevco V St Johnstone.

Falkirk v Hearts was always going to be the most interesting game this afternoon, not sure what the problem with that is?

He's been doing that for ages, and it's not just the 6 yard box. He also talks about "the 18", and how the match time has now reached "the 23rd".

I might be in the minority who actually quite enjoy his commentary, but that stuff is utterly infuriating

In the interests of fairness I’ve been critical of Sportsound in the past, but I must say, I thought that was a much better listen tonight.

The lengthy mewling, wailing and greeting about a decision that, domestically, goes in Rangers (and Celtic’s) favour umpteen times a season and then barely warrants a mention was just 💋 👌. Essential listening.

10/10 - Would recommend.

“Well a hugely controversial decision, still waiting to see if the referee blew before the ball went in for that first goal. But Rangers, on balance, worthy winners Neil?”

Christ, not even I expected to be proved right THAT soon..

Got in the car, turned the radio on. Right on cue - “MY GOODNESS”.

There’s a drinking game* to be made of listening for the same 5 pish phrases he comes out with all afternoon.

* not while driving ofc

So many talking points, Tom.

This is all the more annoying because he never follows it up by discussing the talking points. He says it then immediately moves onto some irrelevant pish about Rangers or VEE EH AR.

Aye, his wee affectations like that are quite annoying, but overall he's quite good.

He doesn't kid you on when a game is shite, he makes his irritation quite clear when he's been sent to Rangers v Bottom Six when there's a better game elsewhere, and he knows all the teams so can commentate on them meaningfully.

Anyone who spends literally hundreds of hours commentating on games is going to say annoying stuff, but he's fine.
