But what are they paying for during this time?

Even if you put staff on furlough the money from the government has not come in yet.  Most teams played one game so the earliest they can back date the furlough is the day after the last day of work .

Electricity / Gas etc will still need paid as will any invoices from the games up to the close down.

April should be a lot easier to manage but some clubs with no bank facilities, money in the bank or backer will be up against the wall already.

It only needs 8 teams to vote against it for it to fail. Hopefully Tim Keyes and John Nelms vote for what’s best for our national game.

The dabs begging for promotion has been disgusting/embarrassing. The biggest issue is the wellbeing of the people of our nation not a football club. Football will return. Dundee FC will be part of it whichever that league is.  It’s more important to me that all my family and friends survive this rather than who gets promoted/relegated. Having said that, the average points  per games ratio is a bit of a farce. Doesn’t take into account of current form, who we have to play home or away and if we have more home fixtures than away. We’d finally come into a decent bit of form that would’ve seen us in with a more than decent chance of a playoff final.

3 league’s of 16 seemed the easiest way to solve the problems for me.

zero money through the gates for a month, some teams are running so close to the wire that that will tip them over.

I think if clubs accepted a cash pay out now and then let the league run and opened discussions on the reconstruction there may be a consensus .

Would that promise be worth the paper its written on?

The other clubs could say we had a discussion, we did not like what was said tough luck.

They are better to say no and keep the league open.

Zero money through the gate but 80% wages covered. The club’s losing out in this scheme will be those paying their players more than £500 per week which there is probably only 10 teams out of the 30. The vote has to be done on what’s best for the game and not greed.

They won't be losing out because they don't have to top up the wages.

They already have the majority of gate receipt money from the season ticket sales. Electric and Gas will be at a minimum as nobody will be in the building. They are in the same position as every other company in regards to furlough.

Not with furlough matey.

You might be right but I highly doubt those clubs without the insurance policy our club has, will have the relevant clauses in a player contract. Every club in the land would’ve furloughed.

For what it’s worth clubs like Celtic with £40m in the bank furloughing  is an absolute disgrace. Grants that should be getting used in far better ways.

Lets say you are a small team who by March is running low on funds, you are relying on the gates /hospitality and extra income from 2 games in March to pay the March wages the fact you have zero games will be an issue.

Yes they can furlough but the physical cash will come in May from HMRC, so the only option is to go to the bank for a loan or not pay people. Thats the issue for some clubs. They have a promise of money from HMRC and the league but the players and staff cannot live on a promise until then.

In an ideal world every team would be operating with cash in the bank but we know many don't. You can see that by the number that put season tickets on sale earlier and earlier each year. Hearts had sold 5 million by the end of last season and spent 4.2 million of that to get to the end of last season.

For this reason Rangers suggestion last night of paying the prize money now but keeping playing (most probably behind closed doors) is the most sensible suggestion.

Just rewatched “Dundee the road to Europe” on DeeTV. We had some fantastic players then, watching them in full flow was a joy to behold. Also, that Speroni save against Aberdeen has aged like a fine wine, what a thing of beauty.

So that's Dundee standing shoulder to shoulder with we Rangers, then.  Strange times we live in when I am united with @DeeTillEhDehand whichever new name @jupe is masquerading under.

We're also backing Celtic to win 9IAR, so... remember social distancing.

Not entirely Kincs. Under Nelms proposals, Celtic would be made champions.
