Scotland is a wealthy part of the UK. Scotland has some the worst deprivation, lowest life expectancy etc Time to change this, not carry on allowing big banks to get away with casino banking.

No they really do not need to pay more. All the tax evaders and big businesses need to pay what they are due. Labour were equally as guilty as the Tories of allowing these type to get away with it.

If someone with some balls would actually stand up to these types the deficit would be wiped out overnight.

While more probably can be done on tax evasion and bank regulation, and I think Milliband's Labour would do a lot more on those things than the Tories, unfortunately I don't think it's that simple.

He didn't do much the last time he was in a position of power.

Apparently there was a flurry of betting on the Lib Dem candidate for Gordon last night and her odds have shortened to 6/1.

This tactical voting certainly has muddied the water in a lot of seats.

Surely to f**k Salmond will still romp home!

They're pissing their money away. It's lunacy to bet against Salmond winning that seat.

What's happening in parts of Glasgow and Dundee shouldn't be applied to Scotland as a whole. The biggest problem isn't these big businesses not paying their so called "fair share". It's the level of subsidies they receive from the government.

The thing about implementing social justice is that you have to persuade people to agree to higher taxes to pay for it. That's what left wing politicians need to be doing. The SNP aren't doing that any more than anyone else, they're just talking about more borrowing, which really is insanity. I'm sure if it was up to Ed Milliband personally there would be big changes, but the old saying 'art of the possible' applies. He is the least worst option, but that's how politics works isn't it? Another old saying: 'Better a live dug than a dead lion'

That would depend on what you're definition of "social justice" is. We already have a highly centralized socialist economy that's highly taxed. Of course you're going to lash out at me for saying that, because that's all you can do.

Alec "The b*****d"

Time for more unfortunate photos of politicians with undesirables, methinks. Anyone got Gordon Brown with anyone embarrassing?

That's not funny. Seriously folks, there's no place on this sub forums for pictures of that deviant.

Or for pictures of Jimmy Savile.

I'm sure I've seen somewhere he's standing for Holyrood. Anyone know if this is the case and if so what seat he is standing in at Holyrood, or is he just on a list?

Surely to Christ not. After 2011 Labour won't be so stupid as to leave the list for their B team: every single one of their constituent MSPs will be on the list as backup. And they're going to get annihilated at seat level, which means the handful that get back in will be their former heavy hitters. No-marks like Dunky whose fabulous strategering has collapsed a hundred-year hegemony in nine months are going to be nowhere near the list.

It isn't just Glasgow and Dundee. It is all over the country.

Subsidies are one thing. Allowing a firm like Vodafone to write off a large chunk of it's corporation tax bill over a posh dinner is quite another.
