Tbf they must be struggling for candidates, you'd normally send some green behind the ears, aspiring youngster to this sort of seat as cannon fodder but that goes out the window when you're in such a volatile landscape as we are now.

The candidates are elected by the local branches so a few zoomers are bound to slip through the net.

A flippant comment and the Daily Labour turn it into some kind of atrocity to save their Dougie

To be fair, if Alexander had joked about nutting Yes voters or SNP councillors, there would be uproar on here, and rightfully so.

Probably because he represents one of Scotland's southernmost constituencies where the sight of someone wearing a Yes badge is a borderline headline event.

Yeah, though you'd think the SNP would be kicking themselves now, if, as Ashcroft seems to show Alexander's seat is there for the taking.

Whether or not you think she should be censured for wanting to stick the nut in Labourites, I don't see how she can have the emotional intelligence or maturity to make a decent go of an election campaign.

That would be more to do with the local branch. They are the ones who vote for which candidate they want to represent them - so she obviously has local backing.

Those Typhoons and machine guns won't sell themselves to Saudi Arabia on their own.

Meanwhile, Raif Badawi faces a slightly more prosaic fate for exercising his opinion by being leathered fifty times each Friday until the total reaches 1000 or more likely, he dies.

Je suis charlie Curran & Donohoe?

Vous etes c***s.

More on the arms-dealer dinner.

Tobius Elwood MP, a Foreign and Commonwealth Office minister, was seated at Cobham PLC’s table. The firm is one of the biggest arms companies in the world, and is headquartered in Dorset. Cobham has applied for arms export licenses to Saudi Arabia, Israel, the UAE and Turkey, according to CAAT.

Margaret Curran MP, shadow secretary of state for Scotland, was seated at the table of US-headquartered arms manufacturer Raytheon.

Raytheon makes the targeting system for the Reaper drone deployed by the CIA and other states to conduct strikes across the globe. The firm has also been linked to manufacturing components for bombs deployed in the 2014 Gaza conflict.

Nice woman, yon Curran. Helping Glasgow's poor and needy from her expensive seat at an arms-dealers' dinner....

The SNP candidate here is the current Council leader and seems fairly unpopular going by letters & comments in local media. The never ending controversy about the Inverness bypass seems to be the favoured stick to beat him with.

*edit*

Sorry, Just realised you were talking about Douglas Alexander rather than Danny.
