BassRock
I've just seen the headline on the Scottish Football Magazine and Pyramid News website: Looney Lullaby League announce `expansion` .. parsforlife
Good luck Cumbernauld. Only 1 clubs accepted whilst not ideal for scheduling means we presumably get to do the whole argument all over again in a year.

newcastle broon
But just one - what nonsense! With only one being accepted and league now having an odd number does this mean potentially at least one of the unlicensed clubs are in real danger of being demoted??? mick90
Thanks for the plug for SFM ... who actually kicked the `pyramid` off with various campaigns in Scotland, through their Pyramid News Weekly .. you can read them in the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh if doubtful. We secured a `Community Club` development programme, a Parliamentary inquiry into SFA, an Office of Fair Trading report on SFA (not good), The Junior Superleague system currently in vogue, Juniors in the Scottish Cup ... although, of course, it being SFA and SJFA, all these programmes fell light years short of what is required to bring Scottish football up to date ... and competitive, with an adequte production system and decent finances. We will congratulate any club who gain entry to SPFL via the ridiculous play-off ... and entirely unlikely prospect (or maybe once in ten years ?), due to the sheer poverty of HFL-Lowland standards. It would, obviously, be much better if we had a REAL PYRAMID, involving all clubs in competition and not by any dubious `selection` processes. That, however, would see dozens of Junior clubs scytheing their way through the hopeless lower SPFL .. and the system you have now is precisely engineered by SPFL to make sure that NEVER HAPPENS. Anyway, good luck with the Lullaby League .. its good that the Caledonian Amateurs are now part of the Pyramid supply route ... though unlikely to halt Scotland`s rapid decline anytime soon. newcastle broon
So another team from the west is in... Geographically all we need now is a team from Ayrshire and a team from south Tayside/north east Fife for the perfect shape
HibeeJibee
Just heard about this. Cumbernauld Colts is understandable and seems eminently sensible - particularly in the context of BSCG and to a lesser extent EK previously... Huge club in participation terms, already the main tenant of Broadwood and the population base to potentially build a support, especially if Clyde move away (which you'd think this development might further encourage). I see in their website they were the first Scottish club to achieve the highest quality mark grade. Welcome to the pyramid, Cumbernauld Colts. However... I must say, I personally find adding a 15th club but not then a 16th rather perplexing. Someone will have to receive a blank date each week when they could be playing club #16 and 4 dates are added to the length of the league program with compensation of only 1 more home game. Of the clubs said to have applied - and Daily Record says it was the 4 rumoured - you saw issues with Glasgow Uni playing out of Airdrie, or Edusport as they have no fanbase or community and aren't primarily focused on results. However, in Civil Service Strollers - whose website confirms they'd applied - you've an established club with a small fanbase, playing in tier below, which just reached the South Challenge Cup final and saying they expect to be licensed next month. So I feel quite sorry for Strollers, and disappointed with 15 clubs instead of 16. One final observation... when LL started it had 4 spaces, this halved to 2 last year and has halved again to 1 when some thought existing clubs may fail to make the grade. Going in the right direction.

Unless there are further announcements to come, it seems the LL/SFA are happy to play fast and loose with licencing deadlines, or are all 14 existing clubs now fully licensed? HibeeJibee
It does say in the last line of the SLFL statement: http://slfl.co.uk/cumbernauld-colts-admitted-to-lowland-league/ The League board expect all our clubs to achieve a ‘Club License’ at the July Licensing committee. Presumably this refers to the same licensing committee meeting as Civil Service mention in their site: http://csstrollers.co.uk/item.php?pg=news&pd=1002&it=1 Strollers failed to make license on 2 points and are back to Hampden on the 23rd July and hope to complete these items prior to this visit. This should lead to us gaining our License in time for the coming season. The Club are also invited to attend a meeting of the SLFL board on Monday the 1st June as part of our application to join the SLFL. Daily Record have an article which claims to identify the unsuccessful applicants and quotes a LL Board member confirming there are an odd number: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/lowland-league-welcome-cumbernauld-colts-5816197

LongTimeLurker
Suspect the 16th team will play their way in for 2016/17 by winning either the EoS and SoS next season, or by being club 42 in the SPFL with East Stirlingshire being the prime suspects on that. Burnie_man
If the existing clubs all gain a licence (and I have to say I’ll be a bit sceptical if they all do), and with the addition of CC and the prospect that CSS will be in soon as well, it confirms - although there was little doubt to be honest - that no Junior club is going to get involved anytime soon. The only way we’ll have a true Pyramid now is if the top Junior level(s) is/are classed as Tier 5 and an overall winner is included in the HL/LL play-off, but for that to happen there needs to be the appetite for it from the SJFA, and for the SFA to agree to it, both unlikely, as is scrapping the LL for a re-think. Bundesliga Boy
Will be interesting to see what happens now with Glasgow Uni and AM soccer Academy. Although the latter pulled out fairly early on in the process, presumably they still harbour aspirations of moving on up. Could a move to the EOS be on the cards, who would no doubt be grateful for an additional member, especially with Easthouses leaving. Also provides a natural geographic partner of sorts for Burntisland. And might Glasgow Uni consider a switch to the South of Scotland league in spite of the additional travel. Derby match up with Edusports Academy and the potential for them both to play their way into the Lowland League.
