Albino Rover
Part of the original trophy has been rediscovered! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30792514 Someone likened it to the discovery of Tutankhamen- that might be taking it a bit far, but has there ever previously been a discovery of this kind in football? What other hidden treasures might be out there?

HibeeJibee
Part of the original trophy has been rediscovered! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30792514 Someone likened it to the discovery of Tutankhamen- that might be taking it a bit far, but has there ever previously been a discovery of this kind in football? What other hidden treasures might be out there? During the Second World War the famous East of Scotland Cup was stolen from the Royal Gymnasium, and presumed lost... It was found buried in a nearby embankment in 1946 by workmen clearing the site for playing fields. Berwick have gone on to lift the trophy many times. It is currently held by Whitehill Welfare who beat us last April. Beat that, Blatter.
supermik
Ssh, it's a little known fact that has not been told too often (folklore mainly) but it is said that England once won it.
HibeeJibee
A couple of other notables. There was a Kilmarnock Charity Cup until 1939, latterly a single tie normally between Kilmarnock and Ayr. Its trophy was thought lost but was found decades later "up a cubby-hole in the Dick Institute". Which may be a euphemism... Another lost piece of silverware was the Kirkcaldy Cottage Hospital Cup, which according to Raith's centenary history: "was not heard of for 70 years when, in 1973, it was discovered following the closure of the former Orthopaedic Hospital, Nether Street. It is now used by the Fife Ambulance Service as a trophy for competition between depots in simulated accident situations".

Albino Rover
"up a cubby-hole in the Dick Institute" I think there might be a way of rephrasing those words that could get you banned.
Zen Archer (Raconteur)
I thought that Bobby Moore had nicked it.
Hampden Diehard
Didn't someone not nick the B & Q Cup from either Airdrie or Hamilton a number of years ago, only for it to be left outside the ground three or four years later?
Hampden Diehard
I thought that Bobby Moore had nicked it. That was the Julia Rimet Bracelet.
