cilitbang
Wow, comparing us to Saint J as in don't bring on our youth and only sign experience? You just stole a youth player from Dundee so can't claim as your own youth product and just signed Broadfoot, Powers (29yr old) and have Burke on trial Was worried McCulloch would be a good manager but panic over now

We played within the rules, it's not our fault Dundee fecked up his registration. As LM says we are easily the best Scottish club at present for giving youth a chance, every club still needs experience to help bring these youngsters on. You just worry about keeping Archie, we will worry about McCulloch. PS... Clearly LM does worry you or you wouldn't have taken the time to post [emoji106]......
RandomGuy.
We've spent more on our youth system that most Scottish teams over the past five years, have one of the best U17 teams in the Country, and currently have nine players from our own ranks in the squad this season. We're not exactly a horrible team for youth development.
senorsoupe
I personally believe that clubs should develop players through their youth academies and I would say that most of the Premiership teams do a good job of this, including Kilmarnock and St. Johnstone. Celtic, Partick, Motherwell, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs and Hamilton have also had a decent record in recent years on this front while Dundee and Ross County have an OK but not great record. Oh and then there is Sevco Edited July 5, 2017 by senorsoupe

djchapsticks
We've signed a young lad, Lewis Morrison on a developmental deal from you guys. I know that this time last year he was being tipped for decent things but what's happened in the last year that he's found himself out on his ear?
Nadroj
He has a genuinely terrible attitude towards being a pro footballer, apparently.

Has a terrible attitude by all accounts, wanted help developing his fitness when McCulloch was appointed interim manager.Lee and the other coaches helped him with his fitness then he asked to go out on loan.Lee agreed to find him a club, but he wanted to go to The Buffs to "play with his mates".LM's comments at the AGM btw not an opinion

He's got a year to buck his ideas up with us.

Maybe being shown the door at Killie is the wake up call he needed to adjust his attitude, good luck to him thou as he is undoubtedly a decent football player.
Estragon
Disappointing to hear that about Lewis Morrison - I worked with his grandpa a few years ago, and there's been such excitement about this boy for so long. Hopefully he does well at St Mirren. Being released at developmental age isn't terminal. It's not long since Craig Slater made the opposite journey, and was first team within the year.

Jan Vojáček
Hi guys, Chris 'The Mini Messi' Johnston played as a trialist for us on Saturday, and we're set to announce a signing today, which could well be him. Just a quick thing I was wondering, can he play in the #10 role (eg the centre of a 3 in a 4-2-3-1)? That's where we played Sam Stanton last season, and he was probably our most impressive outfield player, but we've yet to properly replace him, and I wondered if Johnston could do a similar job.
craigkillie
In theory he can play there, but I don't think he handles the physical side of the game very well, and putting him right in the middle would be a gamble.

He should have the security of two pretty solid defensive midfielders in Carswell and Grant Gallagher in behind him, so that might not be a major issue. Stanton wasn't the most powerful when he came in, but gradually he settled into the role. We've only really got two wingers as well (in Tom Walsh and Calum Gallagher) so chances are he may well feature out there too.

He is a bit lightweight, but on his day can turn in a very decent performance.
