CPT
Doncaster Someone, somewhere thinks he is doing a good job *shudder* Fixture FARCE as marathon talks with TV bosses ensure league chiefs are "NOWHERE NEAR" revealing post-split matches 17:59, 14 April 2015 By Keith Jackson HAMPDEN source admits its an "embarrassment" as broadcasters and cops fail to come to an agreement and season could creep into JUNE! SCOTTISH leagues bosses are locked in marathon talks with broadcasters and cops after failing to agree on the post-split top-flight fixtures. SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster had expected to announce the dates of all matches in this seasons climax this afternoon. But, despite spending the past two days in negotiations with the bosses of Sky TV and BT Sport as well as Police Scotland, no agreement was even close to being reached by close of business. It is now hoped a solution can be found today as Doncaster battles against the clock to rubber-stamp the run-in. A source close to the talks told Record Sport: To say this process is proving incredibly difficult would be something of an understatement. "Its not just a case of two rival broadcasters arguing over who gets the best live games and when, but its also further complicated by the requirements of the police. At this moment in time its fair to say we are nowhere near reaching an agreement. "People will obviously describe this an embarrassment which it is but its also a highly-complicated situation. On top of everything else there is an imbalance in this years fixtures which has been thrown up because Hamilton did not make the top six. As a result of this, difficult decisions have to be made and its going to be impossible to keep everyone happy. When anyone is asked to play away from home three times in one season against the same club it becomes problematic. But these are the issues which arise from having the split and they have to be dealt with. The talks have been further complicated by the possibility of either Falkirk or Hibs - who face each other in Saturdays Scottish Cup semi final - also reaching the final promotion play-off for place in next seasons Premiership. Such a scenario would force the SPFL to extend the season into June. It is likely that, even if the post split fixtures are announced tomorrow, a definitive date for the play-off final will be held back until next week at the earliest. Hammer Jag
Complete joke. I can only reiterate what most of us have been saying for years now - Doncaster must go. From his shambolic handling of the Rangers fiasco to no league sponsor for 3 years and now this. Scottish football deserves better. Doncaster out. Hammer Jag
Any fans having to travel between the Highlands, Aberdeen and the central belt next week can forget getting any cheap fares at such short notice. There's a million other inconveniences we have to suffer as well. Scottish football really excels at driving the paying customer away.

hellbhoy
This is where the game becomes a joke when the split comes up. Anywhere else in our divisions every club has equal amounts of home and away fixtures. I feel sorry for the fans who pay for a season ticket to attend 19 home games a season only to shafted later on in the season out of a game they paid in advance for whilst the other clubs get an extra home game at the expense to their club they can't charge ST holders for but receive more for PATG, but do get the extra catering etc. Has there ever been a case were a club only got to play 17 home games a season and had to travel to 21 away fixtures ??? IMO at this time of the season the ST money and the PATG money should be pooled into one big pot to be equally shared amongst all the clubs in the division as some sort of fair share mechanism. And yes folks even if my club receives far less for it, but it will help the clubs getting shafted out of a home fixture and catering etc. It's only fair. The split is a fucking joke and IMO should be scrapped to 44 games a season if need be so that the split doesn't interfere with our clubs in European footy near the split etc etc etc.

The Master
Bloody Hamilton Daily Record journalism shown up for the shite that it is, because Hamilton are where their pre-season seeding expected them to be. Split is a good idea: it allows us to have 12 clubs instead of 10 in the top tier, provides an optimal 38-game season, and gives mid-table clubs something to play for... After the split lots of head-to-head games provide further excitement. On balance the occasional 18/20 or 20/18, and 3/1 or 1/3, and worth it for the bigger benefits. That doesn't change the fact that (1) SPFL should be more transparent and explain the system better; and (2) get the fixtures out quicker.
TheLip69
I've said before that I despise the split. It is, in my opinion, tantamount to cheating. With 5 games to go the SPFL get to redraw the fixtures any way they, or the TV companies, want. How can the league be seen as a fair and equitable contest when a team, or teams, is disadvantaged, sportingly and financially, by playing fewer home games than others. The SPFL is a farce, always has been and will remain so until this nonsense is binned for good.
