Ask yourself this - why was John Swinney the invisible man of the referendum campaign?

He's a liability - out of his depth when he was leader of the SNP and out of his depth as Finance Secretary.

He hasn't got the gift of the gab like Sturgeon or Salmond but he is a very capable constituency MP and has done well as finance secretary. George Osbourne however has failed to wipe the deficit like he promised and has doubled the debt in 5 years. If that's what you call capable then fair enough.

He's avoided making tough decisions. There's only so long you can do that.

I think introducing your views on one politicians perceived failings in discussing this subject is a prime example of grasping at straws.

Your misconceptions about Swinney say a lot more about you than they do about him.

He's done a very good job during the last 8 years. But, by all means, SNPbad.

All that does is tell me neither have any confidence in their own arguments to stand

You know that a large number of SNP MSPs in 2007 were elected on the list despite losing in the constituency? Heck Nicola Sturgeon herself went down this route in 2003.

It's just an unfortunate quirk of our voting system. We should use STV imo.

Point being?

We are talking about the leader of the Scottish Tories and potential leader of Scottish Labour here. Not some no mark MSPs

Alex Salmond was a list candidate in 2007

 Oh dear!

Enrico is guaranteed to end up a shambling mess when he strays away from copying and pasting from the Internet. That's his wheelhouse - go with what you know. Or in your case Enrico, never try to go with what you think you know.

My point is that party big hitters protecting themselves by putting themselves at the top of the list is by no means confined to the unionist parties.

Just how big a hitter was Nicola Sturgeon in 2003?

Salmond won the seat in 2007, as did Wee Nic.

Ruthy came in 4th behind the Lib Dems at the last election. That's her reason for going on the list.

Shadow health minister. So probably not as big as wee Kez is now. Either way she is always listed top of the Glasgow list, as is Alex Salmond in the North-East. All parties except Labour have used this tactic extensively in the past.

Uh huh... according to you, goingon the list means :- "All that does is tell me neither have any confidence in their own arguments to stand "

So, can you just confirm that in 2007 Salmond didn't have any confidence in his own arguments to stand?

Yes or No?
